They ended up being a bit... tiny and spindly. The sweet potatoes were a total last second thing in my garden, though. I was at my friend's house sometime in May when I saw a sprouting sweet potato on their counter and I asked if I could have it. I then took it home and stuck it in the ground. this was already a pretty late planting for a colder climate so I'm not surprised I didn't get anything that big. These little fingerlings should be some great starters for next year though.

But you're welcome for the little rodent. I'm happy that I can make someone's day a bit better by posting a rodent

Had a volunteer potato plant several years back that I think was planted there by a squirrel maybe. Plant was massive but I only got around a serving size of tiny spuds.

Unrelated but sweet potato leaves are like my favorite green to eat.

[-] Ho_Chi_Chungus@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago

Are those not poisonous like every other potato green?

[-] Melonius@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago

I really hope not lol

No they're really great stir fried with a little bit of garlic, or just raw. They're a lot like spinach but I think the flavor is way better.

The leaves themselves easily propagate without the potato if you grow them separately. Rich in vitamins too!
