I would not eat something if i can still look it in the eye.

But the eye's cooked

...and delicious

I've never eaten the eye, is that actually a thing?

[-] derin@lemmy.beru.co 6 points 11 months ago

Yeah. You can eat the eyes and suck the juices out of the head, if you're looking to not waste any part of your shrimpy boi. If not, you can always use the heads for stock.

😂

I mean, you could just throw it away... But that's waste. There's a lot of quality nutrients in those shrimp heads.

I hope those things are huge because in Louisiana you get a lot more than 4 per box when you order the crawfish!

Love crawfish so I had to look them up, seems like they get to be 10 inches (25cm) so much bigger

I'd love to try langoustines, but I've never once seen any here in the States. And I go to a lot of seafood markets.

Doesn't look like it lives near the US.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nephrops_norvegicus

It lives in the north-eastern Atlantic Ocean, and parts of the Mediterranean Sea, but is absent from the Baltic Sea and Black Sea.

Alas. Perhaps someday I will have the opportunity if I can visit Europe/the UK.
