MR Online is the website for Monthly Review, a Marxist publication. Lemmygrad is a Marxist instance so it makes sense that it's users would read Marxism publications.

The original article was not a WaPo story; it is an article written by the managing editor of, and published by, CovertAction Magazine. There's a link provided at the top of the MR Online copy. At the bottom of the page on the original website, there's a note, as is common for some websites/publications:

Not the OP, but I'd guess that's where they read it from, and a Washington Post link would be useless, because when you scroll down any article on their website, you get paywalled.

Also, MR is a pretty decent publication, albeit small in size.
