Came across the concept of Transhumanism a number of years ago in an English class on futuristic literature. Charles Stross's Accelerando was the main text. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transhumanism

Like a lot of things there's nuance. Musk's claims about computer brain singularity are overblown and hyperbolic, but the technology does have a lot of potential to help people with serious brain conditions.
