The verification can is becoming reality.

[-] Deadend@hexbear.net 38 points 1 year ago

They can detect Mountain Dew, but can’t detect slurs.

Yeah. Ok

My tired brain read that title and thought they were somehow detecting mountain dew in people's bloodstreams.

[-] 4am@lemm.ee 38 points 1 year ago

“Please drink a verification can”

[-] Aryuproudomenowdaddy@hexbear.net 20 points 1 year ago

"Please submit a blood sample into our patented Twitch Prime Blood Analyzer™ before beginning your stream. Lord Bezos thanks you for your cooperation."

pro-tip: instead of going to the trouble of finding and blocking this bot, streamers can also avoid its particular type of spam by simply never being seen consuming this product

[-] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 22 points 1 year ago

Honestly that would be the funny backlash. Streamers start hiding all brand identifiable goods in their streams so this can't happen again.

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

Time is a flat circle.

[-] DayOfDoom@hexbear.net 17 points 1 year ago

They'll reverse and it spams your shit until you show a Mountain Dew logo in the stream.

[-] MargotRobbie@lemm.ee 23 points 1 year ago

Inserting irrelevant advertisement into Internet chat at inopportune times for a viral marketing campaign is the exact opposite of the value I promote in my latest movie, Babylon, now available on select streaming services.

[-] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 20 points 1 year ago

Because having your logo be in a livestream for free wasn't good enough. The greed of capitalists is insane.

[-] Ho_Chi_Chungus@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago

As if I could have even fewer reasons to drink a Mountain Dew

[-] OgdenTO@hexbear.net 16 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Just like most of the internet, is Twitch going to turn into AI generated streams being watched and commented on by AI chat bot's and adbots

[-] peeonyou@hexbear.net 15 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

edit someone else already posted the verification can post

[-] operacion_ogro@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago

I came here to post it too lmao

[-] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 14 points 1 year ago

It would be nice if this AI shit turned people off social media altogether.

[-] Hohsia@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago

Kinda hoping AI shit destroys the internet as we know it

That would be a net good for the world

[-] LENINSGHOSTFACEKILLA@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago

Read this initially as "in people's dreams" and the absolute wave of horror that rushed over me is unknowable.

This sucks too.

[-] flan@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago

is that twitch doing it or mountain dew doing it?

[-] 4am@lemm.ee 22 points 1 year ago

Sounds like it’s a collab. Twitch is using their new “eye of Sauron “ automod AI and also scanning all video feeds for the mtn dew logo, bottles/cans/etc and then sending the bot into chat to shitpost about entering their contest and/or getting a front page raid.

Why anyone thought we’d want this is beyond me. Twitch is so out of touch.

[-] chickentendrils@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

At least these bots can be blocked clientside. Just wait until the entire stream gets personalized adverts and endorsements by the streamer injected directly by machine learning transformers.

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 14 points 1 year ago

Nobody thought you'd want this feature lmao. You are a cash cow to be milked and they do not give a fuck whether you're ok with having your udders hooked up to the pump.

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 11 points 1 year ago

Hastag #sipping pepsi

[-] RION@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

Count on Zach Bussey for the latest twitch news

[-] blobjim@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

Why do ads always sound this way. Do marketing people think this is supposed to be endearing or something? Like using a hashtag in the message, which I thought became gauche as soon as it was a thing.
