Subsequent 15 sec videos trying to convince iPhone users by focusing on:

IMO the examples are pretty basic and vague, not what would win over any iPhone user.

As a long time Android user, stop focusing on Apple and focus on your own damn software and hardware.

The good part of Android is that you don't need to take Apple's shits. The bad part is that you now have to take a certain amount of Google's shits.

Well, you can always degoogle an android phone, even without rooting it (adb).

Isn't it all about the blue bubbles being one of the bigger reasons. I wonder what impact apps like imessage not being tied to hardware would have.

This is why I like services like beeper bringing iMessage support over to android. I get to use the phone like, but also make my friends happy by not messing up the blue bubbles

[-] MdRuckus@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Same. I'm using Beeper on my Pixel for iMessage. I use OneCalender to sync my Apple Calendar with my wife. No reason to use an iPhone. I prefer Android.

Ya Beeper is awesome. I use it for WhatsApp, because I need it for my landlord, but there's no chance in hell I'm installing WhatsApp on my phone.

Alas, they're backed up enough you can't really start using it at present

[-] HReflex@yiffit.net 4 points 1 year ago

One of my friends just signed up 29 days ago and got in so they are definitely catching up. I was on the waitlist for a year and a half

[-] PlantJam@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

For anyone else wondering, they're backed up meaning there's a wait before you can start using it. I just signed up and it ended with a message that basically says "you're in line!"

IMessage on android will be amazing, I'm excited to try it out.

[-] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

That is exactly what I meant :)

I use android and I will still say I think iOS had an edge when it comes to security. iOS sandbox is far more restrictive of what apps can and can't do. While I disagree with certain restriction others I can see. Keep in mind as far as I am aware android apps can still do things like list every application on the device, and don't get me started on Google Play services

[-] CharlestonChewbacca@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Cybersec White Papers haven't ranked an iPhone as the most secure phone in like 5 years.

[-] skymtf@pricefield.org 2 points 1 year ago

I use graphine and put all the spooky apps in my "work" profile and that seems to make me feel safe enough, keep in mind while I would love it if I could convince every single friend to move to FOSS applications I know deep down that would be really hard to do

[-] v3ritas@infosec.pub 7 points 1 year ago

If I’m going with Android, it’s going to be a custom ROM without Google services. F-Droid FTW =]

[-] Deftdrummer@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Very little to do with the iPhone. I don't get it.

[-] AlmightySnoo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

In all of those videos they show someone trying to transfer his stuff from an iPhone
