I see you got the wrong form. Let me help you! This is the one you need:

[-] danwardvs@sh.itjust.works 88 points 1 year ago

spends an hour configuring Proton to run a game smoothly, plays for 10 minutes

[-] CheezyWeezle@lemmy.world 37 points 1 year ago

I feel personally attacked... I have done this with too many games on my deck, with Cyberpunk I spent 3 hours testing all kinds of different settings configurations (and then running the benchmark between every change...), trying to decide if I wanted to stick with native res and lower all the settings or upres with fsr and bump the effects up... then I got in game and realized I didnt have mods and didnt want to deal with them at that point and uninstalled the game.

[-] danwardvs@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 year ago

It comes from a place of personal experience.

[-] SaltyIceteaMaker@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Sir would you please stop doxxing me thanks

[-] janus2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 71 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

me when I feel like digital drawing:

  1. open Krita
  2. spend 2 hours getting a brush just right
  3. exhausted, only draw for 5 minutes before giving up and getting my physical sketchbook and a pencil

There's such a relief in using simple physical tools that have a very limited number of parameters and degrees of freedom to consider. Same with reading a book vs reading on a computer.

I go on lemmy to laugh at memes, not to see pictures of myself. Did I open Instagram?

[-] Locorock@artemis.camp 49 points 1 year ago

i cannot confirm nor deny these allegations, but i can provide you with my dotfile repo

[-] rikudou@lemmings.world 13 points 1 year ago

If you used NixOS, you could move your whole OS there!

[-] minorsecond@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Seriously thinking about nuking my years old Gentoo installation to try Nixos at this point.

[-] tool@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Could always just get another drive instead of tearing it down, storage is pretty cheap these days.

The whole OS is configured by a single file (or subfiles you include from the main file) - every package and setting can be there. Meaning you just move the file to a new OS, run a single command, and you have the exactly same OS.

[-] Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zip 43 points 1 year ago

I feel attacked and I don't even use Arch btw

[-] spaceape@lemmy.nrsk.no 40 points 1 year ago

I have Elite: Dangerous. I literally built a 6D motion sensor headtracking rig with IR diodes and a modified PS EYE. 30 hours of config later I had the P E R F E C T config, so I moved on to new games.

Balancing the insane ADS in Cyberpunk 2077 by manually editing core files while battling 150+ mods, now that's what I call enjoyable gaming!

[-] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 20 points 1 year ago

Stopped flirting, I'm married! But...u know...don't stop.

[-] spaceape@lemmy.nrsk.no 11 points 1 year ago

i can optimize a system for negligible results all night until it runs smoooth and purrs like a kitten

Wait, is that purring a destabilized fan? I'll have to get back to you.

[-] Jamie@jamie.moe 6 points 1 year ago

Sounds like my buddy configuring like 300 Skyrim mods over the course of a week until the game is thoroughly unplayable without a crash for longer than 5-15 minutes, then he'll play it for a couple days and do something else.

[-] yrmyli@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 year ago

I played New Vegas over 150+hours on my last run and -50 of those hours was just installing mods and testing them :D

[-] spaceape@lemmy.nrsk.no 4 points 1 year ago

If I can customize my house in the game, why shouldn't I customize the game in my house?

[-] spaceape@lemmy.nrsk.no 5 points 1 year ago
  • Play Cyberpunk on max difficulty? No challenge.
  • Play Cyberpunk with ultra hardcore difficulty mods? Death isn't even routine.
  • Make Cyberpunk run well, while incorporating missing features? Now that's a challenge on my level, it truly feels like me versus the challenge the ~~developers~~ CDPR executives have laid before me.
[-] name_NULL111653@pawb.social 3 points 1 year ago

And I thought I was insane with 53 Valheim mods... give this guy a trophy.

[-] Poggervania@kbin.social 39 points 1 year ago

tfw OP just posts your average Gentoo user

Is coon still a disparaging term or has things changed?

[-] wozomo@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

In this case I’m pretty sure it’s a play on “coomer,” given the masturbatory nature of the referenced mentality

Edit: clarification + link added

[-] jhulten@infosec.pub 13 points 1 year ago

It is still a slur. creator should have put an extra oonin there.

[-] McJonalds@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

coonfigaroonin

[-] Chunk@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Yeah. At first I quickly hid my phone (I'm in public) because I thought this was going to be a really racist meme.

[-] Uplink@programming.dev 10 points 1 year ago

I use Kubuntu in mostly default configuration. Am I special or a normie?

[-] rikudou@lemmings.world 4 points 1 year ago

A special normie.

[-] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

I'm trying like hell to figure out what all of you are on about then I decide to actually read the topic

!Linuxmemes

Oh, that makes much more sense

[-] dukk@programming.dev 3 points 1 year ago

Never underestimate the powers of Arch elitism!

[-] flameguy21@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago

I may not spend hours customizing stuff anymore but anytime I open a new piece of software I instantly jump to settings. I can't help it.

[-] Lakso@ttrpg.network 7 points 1 year ago

Where did you get that picture of me?

[-] LovePoson@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Bold of you to assume he got a girl home

[-] Shadywack@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I feel attacked.

[-] Obsession@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

College-me is in this picture and I don't like it

[-] VicentAdultman@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

The best part is configuring a wm to my liking then migrating to another .config flooded with conf files but I am using plasma without any changes ATM, lmao.

[-] Aagje_D_Vogel@feddit.nl 3 points 1 year ago

Good times.
