i wonder which country wanted to add paragraph 4 ukkkraine amerikkka eu-cool

Notes with alarm that the Russian Federation has sought to justify its territorial aggression against Ukraine on the purported basis of eliminating neo-Nazism, and underlines that the pretextual use of neo-Nazism to justify territorial aggression seriously undermines genuine attempts to combat neo-Nazism

Numerous delegates — including from Venezuela, Cuba, Belarus, Zimbabwe and China — disassociated from operative paragraph 4, as it politicizes the issue of elimination of racism, while introducing a country-specific approach to a thematic resolution.

The delegation of Spain, speaking on behalf of the European Union, in its capacity as observer, noted the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine and its continued use of United Nations forums for its own purposes. There should be no doubt that the European Union is committed to the global fight against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance. These issues deserve a meaningful discussion.

its continued use of United Nations forums for its own purposes.

Because the US never does that, ever.

I would like to draw attention to the following nations who voted no:

Albania - Andorra - Australia - Austria - Belgium - Bosnia and Herzegovina - Bulgaria - Canada - Cyprus - Czechia - Denmark - Estonia - Finland - France - Georgia - Germany (Federal Republic of) - Greece - Hungary - Iceland - Ireland - Italy - Japan - Kiribati - Latvia - Liechtenstein - Lithuania - Luxembourg - Malta - Marshall Islands - Micronesia (Federated States OI would like to call out and shame each nation who voted aganst this resolution, why it will make me feel betterof) - Monaco - Montenegro - Netherlands (Kingdom of the) - New Zealand - North Macedonia - Norway - Poland - Portugal - Republic of Moldova - Romania - San Marino - Slovakia - Slovenia - Spain - Sweden - Ukraine - United Kingdom - United States

I would also like to draw attention to the nations who where present for the vote, but still could not decide to vote to oppose Nazis, and Abstained:

Bahamas - Dominica - Guinea - Myanmar - Palau - Panama - Papua New Guinea - Republic of Korea (Occupied South of Korea) - Samoa - Switzerland - Tonga - Tuvalu - Turkey

all nations I have not mentioned either voted yes (Nazis are bad), or did not have a delegate present, and I do not feel it important to place a light on nations who do not have a permanent delegate to the United Nations, or for what ever reason missed this vote.

I just did a count and 45 of those 61 voters came from countries that were at one point either Axis powers or Axis properties.Albania: Axis property
Andorra: neutral
Australia: Allied power but accommodated Axis collaborators (example)
Austria: Axis property
Bahamas: Allied property
Belgium: Axis property
Bosnia and Herzegovina: Axis property
Bulgaria: Axis power
Canada: Allied power but accommodated Axis collaborators (examples)
Cyprus: Allied property
Czechia: Axis property
Denmark: Axis property
Dominica: Allied property
Estonia: Axis property
Finland: Axis power (at least unofficially)
France: Axis property
Georgia: Allied
Germany: Axis power (obviously)
Greece: Axis property
Guinea: neutral (I think)
Hungary: Axis power
Iceland: Allied property
Ireland: Allied property
Italy: Axis power
Japan: Axis power
Kiribati: Axis property
Latvia: Axis property
Liechtenstein: neutral but complicit in Axis crimes
Lithuania: Axis property
Luxembourg: Axis property
Malta: Allied property, but once under Axis siege
Marshall Islands: Axis property
Micronesia: Axis property
Moldova: Axis property (kinda)
Monaco: Axis property
Montenegro: Axis property
Myanmar: Axis property
Netherlands: Axis property
New Zealand: Allied power
North Macedonia: Axis property
Norway: Axis property
Palau: Axis property
Panama: neutral?
Papua New Guinea: Allied property but under Axis assault
Poland: Axis property (obviously)
Portugal: neutral but sometimes accommodated the Axis
Romania: Axis power
Samoa: Allied property
San Marino: neutral but sympathetic towards the Axis (at one point they adopted fascism as their politics)
Slovakia: Axis power
Slovenia: Axis property
South Korea: Axis property
Spain: neutral but accommodated the Axis
Sweden: neutral but sometimes accommodated the Axis
Switzerland: neutral but sometimes accommodated the Axis
Tonga: Allied property
Turkey: neutral (until 1945) but accommodated the Axis
Tuvalu: Allied property
Ukraine: Axis property
United Kingdom: Allied but repeatedly accommodated the Fascists (example), despite being a victim of Fascist aggression
United States: Allied but repeatedly accommodated the Fascists (example)

You’d think that the descendants of somebody who presumably suffered under the Axis would have condemned German Fascism, but I guess not. If Russia likes something, that means that it’s bad, but if Russia dislikes something, that means that it’s good.

"Russia is exploiting the resolution to serve it's goals in Ukraine."- Ok yeah but...the only way Russia can use the resolution against Ukraine is if Ukraine actually is glorifying Nazism...

[-] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 10 months ago

right, kinda gives the whole game away there

[-] SoyViking@hexbear.net 16 points 10 months ago

Any German leader who is unable to immediately and unconditionally condemn Nazism should be sent straight to the gulag.

[-] LarkinDePark@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 10 months ago

Seems like this happens once a year.

[-] ComradePupIvy@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 10 months ago

It does, and every year the no votes grow

[-] ComradePupIvy@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 10 months ago

Does anyone have a link to the votes by nation this year?

A/C.3/78/L.7: resolution text | voting data

A/78/478 (committe report, includes votes for all drafts, L.58 and L.60/Rev 1 don't seem to have their own voting data in the digital library): resolution text
