Hello!

After 151 hours I finally hit perfection on my farm (Inaba nerd). In no way would I consider myself an expert of this game, but I've definitely learned a lot about it when researching the best way to go about this and generally just being a big fan. If anyone is trying to get perfection, just start a farm, or whatever feel free to ask!

Before anyone asks anything, I'd like to share resources that helped me meow-floppy

For easy early game money, sell tea saplings. They sell for 500 gold each! You'll need to get Caroline to two hearts (gift her daffodils) and you'll need to collect the seasonal foragables as well.

To hit that final 10 mil gold for the golden clock, I used ancient fruit wine. I kept casks aging at max capacity in the basement and had just under 200 kegs to sell regular wine in the meantime. This can definitely be expanded much more, but I cba and was still doing other things at the time so I didn't mind it taking a bit longer. Grow the ancient fruit in the greenhouse and use the seed maker until you have as many seeds as you want.

Along with the standard requirements for perfection, I also forged the infinity weapons, got everything from Mr Qi's shop, got the return scepter from Krobus, and enhanced all my tools / weapons in the forge. At this point I'm going to give this file a break until the 1.6 update drops. Just need to do a Joja run for the last steam achievement.

Anyway, go play Stardew if you haven't already. It's a wonderful game sicko-queer

That's wild. I typically mod Stardew and stop playing it a bit after I am done hyperfixating on reaching the bottom of the mines as quickly as possible.

tbh my favourite parts of this game are skull cavern runs and remixes mines runs, so I weave them in between all the other stuff to keep things engaging

dang im literally playing right now, the only thing im missing is the golden walnuts

okay here's my question, did you date anyone & who ?

[-] artificialset@hexbear.net 11 points 9 months ago

exciting! I saved those for last too. I almost always married Leah previously, but this time I did Abigail and I think she's my fav now. how about you?

[-] TheSpectreOfGay@hexbear.net 7 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

i usually go for haley, but this time i'm playing with a ton of mods so im dating the wizard using this mod. it's been really nice so far!

actually i added a mod that made leah and haley date and that was good too snom

[-] artificialset@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago

oh nice! I love mods like that. have you seen the one that makes Morris a marriage candidate? I would never lol, but the videos on it are fun

Was your in game spouse supportive?

[-] artificialset@hexbear.net 10 points 9 months ago

she was very unhappy when I slept through half a year without talking to her

[-] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago

Holy crap! You can self-insert in the game?!

[-] RamrodBaguette@hexbear.net 11 points 9 months ago

How much strength did it take to do a Joja playthrough?

[-] artificialset@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago

that is the very last thing I need to do for all steam achievements. I'm about to start that farm tonight lol ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ”ซ

[-] GuyWTriangle@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

The key to doing a Joja run as fast as possible is to build a windmill and grow exclusively wheat in summer/fall to mill into flour. The profit margin on it is insane. Everything you do in spring should be to set yourself up to create a massive wheat field

[-] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 11 points 9 months ago

congratulations

How did you do it? I always give in to my worst perfectionist tendencies and restart the day over and over again so much that I've never made it past the first year, so I'm genuinely impressed

[-] artificialset@hexbear.net 5 points 9 months ago

yeah I get that. I think planning out the season helped me for sure. once I get the important stuff done early, I can be more loose and with the rest of the month. this is particularly important for crops and fishing. originally I set a lofty goal of being done in 3 years, but I finished spring year 5

[-] artificialset@hexbear.net 5 points 9 months ago

yes absolutely! highly looking forward to whatever CA adds

[-] Tachanka@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

PerturbedGorilla added winter outfits finally but I'm sitting here like "the nexus mods seasonal outfits are still better"

I never 100% the game. I got like 80% and started playing SV Expanded.

[-] voight@hexbear.net 8 points 9 months ago

have you heard of Elden Ring

[-] artificialset@hexbear.net 10 points 9 months ago

that's dsplayer's territory

[-] voight@hexbear.net 10 points 9 months ago

They appear to have been fired for truth

[-] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 7 points 9 months ago

Did you beat Legend of the Prairie King without save scumming? Those are the last two Steam achievements on mine, and I think they're staying incomplete.

[-] artificialset@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago

yeah I had to save scum haha. it's still hard on its own and CA even said he regrets the original achievement, so it's nbd. I think it's very doable with space scumming fwiw

I just finished my 2nd year, finished the community center, not sure if ill keep going or if it will start getting repetitive.

[-] artificialset@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago

oh you should at least get to ginger island! that's so different from the base game. the volcano dungeon is tough and has some of the best music in the game and the general vibes feel like adventure game there more than farming game (tho you can farm ofc)

[-] GladimirLenin@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

Oh cool. Hadn't even heard of ginger island. I'll definitely check it out. Also yes the soundtrack is next level. I play it when I'm out working in my garden. So chill.

[-] artificialset@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

I play it at work when I need to chill out haha

ginger island is achieved by repairing the boat in Willie's shop. hope you enjoy!

what farm did you pick? who did you marry?

[-] Xx_Aru_xX@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago

I'm surprised you can even 100% the game,

[-] autismdragon@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

Its not an achievement (should be) but I wanna do a run where I see every 14 heart event for every spouse in one run.

For real bragging rights this would mean marrying them, seeing the event, and divorcing them, then on the next

But i might wimp out and just use the polyamory mod.

Do you like any other similar games? My wife and I loved playing Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town.

[-] artificialset@hexbear.net 1 points 9 months ago

this is actually the first game like this I've played! how similar is story of seasons?

[-] BGDelirium@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

Pretty similar since ConcernedApe based Stardew off of the original Harvest Moon, which turned into the Story of Seasons series. Better graphics but not as much depth, since games are released every few years instead of one person iterating on his one game.

I'd give Friends of Mineral Town or Pioneers of Olive Town a whirl if you're looking to scratch the same itch.

[-] BGDelirium@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

Congrats!

General question for the Hexbear SV heads

What would be a baseline laptop (with some wiggle room to still be relevant in a few years) to run Stardew Valley and other similar mid-level games (Coral Island. Sun Haven)? Budget would be about $700 or so.

My wife also 100%'d SV and is looking for her next game fix after she finishes 100% Dragon Quest 11. We just have a Switch so I thought it would be fun to get her into Stardew Valley Expanded (or other mods).
