I do this for a few things, movies in particular. For me most recently, I'm planning on watching Bo Burnham's Inside this weekend, for the first time since I watched it shortly post-release. I wasn't really intending to wait *checks watch* nearly 3 years on that one, but I definitely felt it needed some space before a rewatch.

Anyone else treat certain pieces of media similarly?

Toy Story 2 for PS1, I still need to try the Dreamcast version though.

Hey, OP. Check out the podcast Dissect. They did a season breaking down each track of "Inside". It was really interesting and really gave me a deeper appreciation for the entire project.

Oh neat. I'll look into that. Thanks!

I have read my favorite series only three times. I cracked the seal (figuratively) during a low point caused by the pandemic, among other things.

So glad I saved it. Now I probably wont wait another 20 years to read it again, but I'm glad I kept it fresh for myself.

For me it's Aliens. I hadn't watched it in probably 15 years and did recently when the 4k version came out.

It was so, so worth waiting for. Watched it with my 3 oldest kids and it was their first time. Amazing time was had by all.

Edit: Oh and this song by Sylvan Esso. I listen to it about once every three months and get goosebumps every time.

The book Bridge of Birds by Barry Hughart. Maybe everyone has a book that's just perfect for them. This one is mine.

This makes me realize that I have a huge list of things I should see/do, but have been putting off because I want to enjoy them at their max. Then I find myself never feeling ready enough. Some of the ones from this thread I’ve been meaning to check out for years:

  • Inside
  • Bojack
  • the video “Leroy Jenkins”. I have no idea what it even means, but I’ve seen references to it for well over a decade.
  • Halo: Reach
  • ME: Legendary, I did download this one a couple years ago, so I’m further on it than anything else
  • Firefly

Anyway, the ones I try not to oversaturate are the best episodes of Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Particularly Charlie Work, which I’ve only seen once.
