Need that hasn't been properly cleaned in a decade taste.
Lol I too have read those "what's a thing the public doesn't know about your job" reddit threads
Don't take them to be fact across the board. When I worked in food service (chipotle), the nozzles got cleaned every night.

Fountain soda typically uses a higher ratio of syrup to water. This is in anticipation of some ice melt.
It's mixed at the tap. At a soda fountain thw water, CO2, and syrup are stored separately and mixed at the tap. Flavor difference is likely the result of a different ratio.
I remember hearing that the syrup formula for fountain coke is different from the formula they use in the bottled and canned stuff.
The seltzer water and soda syrup are mixed when it's pouring into your cup. If the machine is properly maintained, and the syrup hasn't "expired", it should be the freshest soda can get.

Its not, canned is best, followed by bottled. Fountain is the bottom drink of last resort.
For me it goes:
Glass bottle > Can > plastic bottle > post-mix (fountain)
I do like a glass bottle soda. Can't believe I forgot about those.
They are (sadly) so hard to find these days they are easy to forget.
I'll die on that hill, but can is better than glass bottle. There's more fizz going on. Soda tastes also fresher
Agreed, this is my preference in terms of taste for sure. Value for money though... well that's a different calculation.

To quote an old whiskey add: "Do you want the scotch you want to pay for or the scotch you want to drink?..."
For me, glass bottle > plastic bottle > fountain > can.
I don't like canned sodas. They taste wrong, and I hate the way they feel against my mouth.
I don’t like canned sodas. They taste wrong
I can understand that. I have a friend who is the same with beer. They will not drink it as it tastes terrible to them.
That lovely plastic lining taste of canned, with the taste of aluminum as well. Honestly glass bottle hits different, but i don't drink soda anymore
Plastic bottled is garbage. I like an aluminum can ok. Glass bottled is pretty good. But you're mistaken about fountain.
Disagree, glass bottled is best, followed by canned, then plastic bottled.
Fountain soda ratios are always way off.
I find bottled/canned soda has way too much carbonation. fountain drinks are usually better for that alone.
