Maybe not the highest quality shower thought, but I had been a long day.

They are, but it's literally a single pixel video resolution and a really low frame rate.

[-] gens@programming.dev 14 points 1 year ago

And ir only. They are (usually) just thermal sensors.

I used to think that when I was a kid. I thought it was someone’s job to watch you go to the bathroom, and then flush the toilet for you when you were done…

[-] gregorum@lemm.ee 25 points 1 year ago

Did you also think that many of those people were quite terrible at their jobs?

Then being naked on camera is not nearly as big a deal as you think it is, because it's been happening for a long time with no negative consequences.

So they have a lot of video of people washing their hands?

[-] Lommy241@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I don't know about you, but I don't wash my hands in the toilet.

Dirty water, small bowl, close to the ground so lots of bending over, etc.

Some toilets have that little clip thing that's supposed to clean the toilet everything you flush.

[-] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I've never seen a motion sensor in the stall with me. They are usually on the wall by the door where you enter, so even with the urinals they would only get your back.

[-] Lommy241@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Aren't the auto flush toilets using motion sensors? Perhaps I am mistaken.

[-] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

They'd see butt cracks all day

[-] TheFriendlyDickhead@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I mean in that case I wouldn't realy care that much. But sometimes they are in weird spots. I mean they have to capture your movement un the stall or otherwise the lights will go 9ut and you have to leave the stall for them to turn on again.

Please don’t, there are enough paranoid nutjobs on Lemmy as it is

[-] NightAuthor@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

Where are you hanging out? Everyone seems normal enough (at least by internet standards)

[-] paddirn@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

I mean, if you want to watch me pooping in my bathroom, I've got an Onlyfans account for that, just pay me and stop trying to cheap out.

Can almost guarantee some of the cheap Asian manufactured ones are. Law of averages.

That's why they don't put urinals in the womens bathroom probably

I was downvoted to fuck when I suggested this as a conspiracy theory on reddit. One of the reasons I left that place, because of the toxicity. I thought it was a thought that might have had some merit. You don't really know what's behind the glass on that sensor.

[-] Sethayy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

But tbh I think the risk to reward ratio wouldn't be worth it for a bit still (at least until electronics get a bit more user friendly)

You'd have to be capable enough to be able to fuck around with microelectronics (which a convinced enough hobbiest could do), horny enough to put a large amount of that effort solely to being horny (even when youre smucking around in the stinky toilet electronics), confident enough to know you electronics will truely be undetectable (or just dumb/rich enough - though with greater risk), a bit sociopathic to not care about peoples privacy at all, and finally own a public enough place you can implement all this.

I feel like that's a reasonably small subset of people, so personally I'm willing to risk them catching a low res video of my shitty asshole.

That being said I dont want to discredit youre theory, just give my take on it

There's no shame in being part of the minority.

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
