But some of us are... I'm probably in that group, right?

[-] nuke@sh.itjust.works 133 points 8 months ago

Of course, my sweet Dave, you are very handsome! That reminds me, how did your secret meeting at the NATO Operations Center go today my love?

[-] wise_pancake@lemmy.ca 114 points 8 months ago

Oh it was great, we were discussing the F35, when I made the funniest joke about the aileron control failing when exposed to EM radiation at frequency 214.74 MHZ and that any ballistic missile with a radio transmitter at that frequency attached will cripple the airplane.

Why do you ask?

[-] prole@sh.itjust.works 40 points 8 months ago

Hey man, save that shit for the Warthunder forums...

[-] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 24 points 8 months ago

So Lemmy is how the ruskies pass info back home, by making sarcastic comments on Lemmy.

[-] wise_pancake@lemmy.ca 26 points 8 months ago

Yvan eht nioj

I think we're all on a list after my comment, but for clarity to any government officials or War Thunder developers, this is all fiction and I don't know anything about anything.

[-] psmgx@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

Is this the sublimial or superliminal ?

[-] Axiochus@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

Ну нет, это маловероятно.

Years back I was waiting at a bus hub after I had just got through one of the most grueling days of my life and I looked the way I felt. A woman asks me for directions and it turns out she is on the same bus, so she starts to chat. She was a university-educated beauty while I was looking my worst, just trying to keep myself fed while I wrapped up some missed high school credits before doing an adult-ed course.

I don't think I've ever been more suspicious of someone in my life, but after chatting for over half an hour she seemed quite intelligent and genuine, and I decided to ask for her info before we split up.

Called her to set up a date and she got a little hung up on the word "date", using anything but that. Thought maybe she was just being a little non-committal at first, not necessarily scary. We meet up and grab a quick coffee, then she asks me to come with her because she has a night planned out. Fuck yeah, right?

It was a fucking youth group and she damn near tried to drag me in. I walked home, fuck that.

[-] WaterWaiver@aussie.zone 53 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

I had to look this up, so I'll leave it here for others:

youth group = religious organisation trying to sign people up

(In my country if you look this term up on the web you get https://youth.gov.au . They probably wear thongs too)

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 13 points 8 months ago

Youth group in the UK means a something like an after school club. Something like scouts or similar.

So it was very confusing as to why they wouldn't want to be part of that. You might get to go camping or something.

[-] psmgx@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Yeah youth group is often just like an activity club for kids, that runs Christian themed stuff. Can range from just a place for wholesome activities to bible study to suck in would be converts.

Could be parent for honeypotted, but could also be she wanted to test if they had comparable spiritual views -- and he failed. Cults do use the honeypot a lot, tho.

[-] CancerMancer@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 months ago

It being a honeypot was my concern. I don't think they were an actual cult but I don't appreciate being dragged into someone's belief system, much less one I intentionally left behind.

[-] CancerMancer@sh.itjust.works 1 points 8 months ago

I hadn't even considered there might be substantial cultural differences in the use of the term but yes, you've described it accurately.

[-] JoYo@lemmy.ml 52 points 8 months ago

Man, I WISH foreign agents were that hot.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 39 points 8 months ago

It's actually fairly disappointing to see how low people's standards are for betraying democracy.

Like, Ryan Reynolds is hitting on you, yeah, I get it.

Anna Chapman?

I mean, maybe if she's into 40k...

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 15 points 8 months ago

It is depressing how people are prepared to betray their country just for a date.

Excuse me I have an argument to win on the war thunder forums.

[-] JoYo@lemmy.ml 8 points 8 months ago
[-] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 13 points 8 months ago

I don't think that even gets you one figure in 40k.

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 8 points 8 months ago

It is well named.

[-] figjam@midwest.social 7 points 8 months ago

A lot of people out there are very lonely

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 16 points 8 months ago

That's what talking about 40k is for 😤

[-] figjam@midwest.social 5 points 8 months ago

Omg, why are they drip releasing Legions Imperialis? Just push it out the door so I can actually recruit people to play

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 5 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

I'm just glad the Squats are finally back.

And angry.

Now that GW fixed their rules, imagine what they're going to do when they get a full roster 🤤

[-] figjam@midwest.social 4 points 8 months ago

I wish new squats kept the space trucker vibe.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 2 points 8 months ago

Yeah, but I'm always a fan of the Imperium's actions coming back to bite them in the ass.

No DAoT tech for you, corpse worshippers!

[-] psmgx@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

That little redhead who hung out with Santorum and the NRA was pretty cute IIRC.

[-] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 44 points 8 months ago

Powerpoint is not supposedto be that spicy! It's supposed to help you take a shame nap while your peers judge you and chug Monster.

[-] MargotRobbie@lemm.ee 28 points 8 months ago

Speak for yourself, I thought I might meet at least a couple of cool spies, but all I got are weirdos asking for feet pics. 😒

[-] Daefsdeda@sh.itjust.works 12 points 8 months ago

Clearly that is where the oscar winning actress Margot Robbie keeps all the state secrets so I am not suprised

[-] Custoslibera@lemmy.world 11 points 8 months ago

Yes but technically you’re saying there is a chance I could be hit on by either of those people?

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 10 points 8 months ago

Wait I'm confused, is It confirmed that Ryan Reynolds spying on the United States? Got to give him credit for hiding in plain sight.

[-] OttoVonNoob@lemmy.ca 6 points 8 months ago

Canadian super spy!

[-] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 9 points 8 months ago

All I'm saying is, if I was that lumpy guy from 300, I'd've done the same thing.

[-] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 9 points 8 months ago

Maybe they’re just into grey-haired autistic weirdos though?

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.world 7 points 8 months ago

Is that Ryan Gosling wearing a murse?

[-] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 13 points 8 months ago

Ryan Reynolds wearing his Deadpool costume with a sling/quiver for weapons with an over the chest strap. That's a very nice chest, but I wouldn't sell the locations of fractures and undermining in the Three Gorges Dam for it.

[-] psmgx@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago

Indeed! Most of the PLA big-wigs are into thicc black ladies. Totally worth Unit 61398 details. IMO.

[-] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 4 points 8 months ago

Asking for a thicc black lady spy friend, how do I get leverage on those dudes? They don't care about super cars or mansions and think pickled rat is haute cuisine. They'll drink anything, too. Money to burn, have Aston Martin Vantage, will travel.

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

Oh right! Reynolds. I always get those two mixed up.

[-] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 months ago

No problem. Reynolds is masculine and appealing, that's how I keep track.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 11 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Deny that that is the most masculine thing you've ever seen, I dare you.

[-] Gabu@lemmy.world 10 points 8 months ago

That's the manliest man I've ever seen - a man so manly, he wouldn't be afraid to bottom another man.

[-] MargotRobbie@lemm.ee 8 points 8 months ago

I don't know, he looks like a guy who is a little bit too into horses.

[-] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works -2 points 8 months ago

Welcome back, Ms. Robbie, how did you shake hands with THAT and not get instantly pregnant? You had a movie to shoot, must've been crazy! Volcano of seething testosterone! Speaking of which, let me introduce you to Dave, Nuke, Skillissuer, the other one, the salty one, the spook and Elon!

[-] bradorsomething@ttrpg.network 6 points 8 months ago

Leave my mojo dojo bunker command center.

[-] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 months ago

A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.
