Young rioters clashed with police and looted stores Friday in a fourth day of violence in France triggered by the deadly police shooting of a teen, piling more pressure on President Emmanuel Macron after he appealed to parents to keep children off the streets and blamed social media for fueling unrest.

Good. The state should fear it's citizens. There's no excuse for the behaviour of the police and they've been waiting to act like this since the pension protests

A similar article, in French, from the same source adds a few numbers:

There were "79 police officers and gendarmes injured", the ministry added, in a still provisional toll. In all, 1,350 vehicles were set on fire, 234 buildings burnt or damaged and 2,560 fires recorded on public roads and streets, a police source told AFP. The ministry also recorded 31 attacks on police stations, 16 on municipal police stations and 11 on gendarmerie barracks.

[..] President Emmanuel Macron after he appealed to parents to keep children off the streets and blamed social media for fueling unrest.

Lol, no Macron. This is one of those times where social media is clearly a societal positive. Without social media, you could have swept your little police violence under the rug without any pressure to make a change. But now people are informed and organized enough to not stand by idly as police murder us.

Instead of bemoaning your people being unhappy, why don't you actually do something about the root issue? Isn't that your job?

The police murdered a young student electrician for 'refusing to comply' with a checkpoint set up outside an Algerian ghetto. His capital crime he was likely trying to avoid arrest? Driving without a license.
