Oddly enough, The Full Monty (1997) is a movie about down-on-their-luck steelworkers in the UK in the 90s turning to stripping to pay the bills, and it's a really family friendly and heartwarming comedy.

My Neighbor Totoro (1988)

Ponyo (2008) - both by Studio Ghibli, they made more great movies but not all are wholesome

Monsters, Inc. (2001)

How to train your dragon (2010)

Can only think of animated movies, not sure if they are what you are looking for, will add more when something else comes to mind.

Straight story - david lynch

Contrary to all his other movies this one is so happy it will make you cry. It is just so wholesome. Yes im serious, check it out!
