what
If you had the choice to be a billionaire if you go back a few million years in earths age but have to wait it out til you reach the age of humans. Would you do it and wait?
Practically you already waited all that time but you weren't aware of it. Now imagine having to watch it.
… what?
I think they're saying two things. 1) You have to live for a few million years in the past in order to get a billion dollars when you reach the present age. 2) You can't just go to sleep for a long time to get out of the scenario.
I don’t think that’s what they’re saying.
What am I doing for this time? Am I fixed in place, unable to move and communicate? Do I have an interesting view? Of what? Do I have my current sense of self and identity?
What happens when I get back to now? What about everyone I knew? Do they still exist? What happens to my stuff? Was I never around to buy it in the first place?
And what kind of billionaire? Like I’m sitting on a pile of $1,000,000,000 worth of precious metals? Or a bunch of less liquid assets like stock?
Hell yeah, I want to watch history play out!
You’d die of disease within the first millennia at best.
Well, I'm working on the assumption that my survival is magically guaranteed.
I'm going to say no. Most of human history is nasty, brutish, and short.
The Hadean ended 4.031 billion years ago, so I would "earn" 1/4 Dollar (or whatever currency) per year?
Even with just waiting and not having to survive/eat during that time it would be a pretty bad deal...
Man, the causality of that is rough.
But I can't imagine wanting to live to a hundred, much less that kind of time span.
