Picard isn't good Star Trek, but Discovery is just bad on another level.

I don't even dislike the character of Michael, I just hate how much the show focuses on her instead of any of the other characters. Classic Trek was always an ensemble show with all of the senior staff getting their own character development and adventures.

At this point I feel like I know more about Keiko Obrien than I know about Discovery's doctor.

Kurtzman has also teased the development of another potential spinoff, Star Trek: Academy, which would focus on a new generation of young cadets.
