How come whenever I subscribe to a Lemmy on a different instance it just says "subscription pending?" I don't know if these means I'll never actually be subscribed, or if I am and will see the posts in my feed but am not counted among subscribers from that instance? I'm not tech savvy so I'm hoping someone can help!

It seems that this happens when you subscribe to a community on a different instance from your own. You can still read, post and interact exactly as if you were fully subscribed, you're just not counted in the number of subscribers. I've been told that you can force the system to subscribe you properly by repeatedly unsubbing and re-subbing, but I've had no luck with doing that so I just leave them alone now.

I’ve had this issue on my instance before. It seems to be the federation between the instances taking some time to stick. I’d wait a bit and repeat the process, it could be especially slow depending on the load of both instances.
