If this is against instance or community rules just let me know and I'll remove it.

Are there any groups to get involved with to do tech support or create tech solutions for organizers? I do organize with some local groups, technologically and otherwise, and it seems like it would be helpful to see what cross cutting concerns are and cross pollinate solutions.

Obviously, please don't doxx yourself or others to answer this.

Join the Tech Workers Coalition Slack and ask there maybe

IME stuff like this is pretty inactive and impossible to pick up off the ground since they don't actually have a common goal unlike communist parties or oppressed group liberation orgs

Oo, thanks for the slack tip!

My experience seems to match yours with these things.

What kind of things are you looking for?

It may be helpful to have those local groups meet to discuss issues and see if anyone has input on how to resolve them. It might also be worth checking out or asking EFF. They may be able to help you out.

I guess it would be helpful to have specific things in mind ๐Ÿ˜…

Generally things ranging from site maintenance and more general technical support but ideally up to building custom tools for organizers, tenants, workers, etc.

Honestly, kind of looking to continue to help with things that i have some experience with while I slowly develop my interpersonal skills

The EFF is an interesting idea, I'll stick it on the list.

there's the "DSA National Tech Committee" - https://tech.dsausa.org/

Nice, I'm actually getting back into some local DSA work soon hopefully. This is great, thanks!

I have thought about this but not found a ton of great stuff out there.

I did recently run across this while working on setting up a FOSS calendar service though: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%253Awe.riseup.net%252Ftech-autonomy%252Binfrastructure (linking google because they don't seem to be browsable on site without an account, but the individual pages are public.) It has guides for configuring, hardening and using various web infrastructure tools and open source software.

It's run by a larger organization here: https://riseup.net/

They seem to frequently link to resources (especially ansible roles) by this group: https://github.com/AnarchoTechNYC

Sweet, I'll check the links out. I want to say I tried to get a riseup email account several years ago and wasn't able to, probably for security reasons. Hadn't thought about that org in a long time, definitely seems like time to look them up again.

Super interested in this. I have like 10 years experience doing random shit in the software dev world and would love to figure out how to apply my skills to helping out with organizing.
