When a military brands itself "the most humane" military like the IDF has. That already should be a clue as to the marketing and propaganda they've built up for decades and question why the need for branding at all. Systemic abuses, systemic coverups and blank checks given.
I've just started reading starship troopers and very true.
This is from the Tantura documentary, about the 1948 massacre of the Palestinian village Tantura. I do not think IDF existed back then.
It did. The IDF was made from Jewish paramilitaries like Haganah and Irgun that existed way before 1948, and were made into/declared a formal army on 26 May 1948, or four days after the massacre.
Yes, but are we to believe the IDF is angelic? Considering the dehumanization of Palestinians seems to be so commonplace. If you have to declare you are the most humane, something is amiss.
'We're Rolling Out Nakba 2023,' Israeli Minister Says on Northern Gaza Strip Evacuation
The Nakba (Arabic: النكبة an-Nakbah, lit. 'The Catastrophe') was the ethnic cleansing[2] of Palestinians in Mandatory Palestine during the 1948 Palestine war through their violent displacement and dispossession of land, property, and belongings, along with the destruction of their society, culture, identity, political rights, and national aspirations.[3] The term is also used to describe the ongoing persecution and displacement of Palestinians by Israel.[4] As a whole, it covers the shattering of Palestinian society and the long-running rejection of the right of return for Palestinian refugees and their descendants.
Not that I don't believe what's being said here, but can anybody who speaks Hebrew confirm the subtitles are accurate translations?
This is from the Tantura documentary, about the 1948 massacre of the Palestinian village Tantura. Highly recommend giving it a watch. It’s absolutely chilling.
I don’t speak Hebrew, but saw this documentary, it’s made by Israelis. The quote is correct. The whole documentary is filled with dudes like this “oh yeah, I’m a murderer, but my wife doesn’t know, it happened, what am I going to do about that hahaha”; beyond disgusting.
Is it this one you're talking about?
Tantura (2022) - Internet Archive
Description: When Israeli graduate student Teddy Katz meticulously documented a massacre of Palestinian civilians surrounding Israel's independence, he was initially celebrated for his groundbreaking work. But soon, he was stripped of his degrees and was publicly shamed as a fraudulent traitor. Decades later, incendiary new evidence emerges to corroborate Teddy's initial findings, not just vindicating him, but raising profound questions about how Israelis — and we all — deal with the darker chapters of history.
IMDb: In the war of 1948 hundreds of Palestinian villages were depopulated. Israelis call it 'The War of Independence. Palestinians call it 'Nakba"'. The film examines one village - Tantura and why "Nakba" is taboo in Israeli society.
That’s the one!
Thank you for the info
My pleasure
But soon, he was stripped of his degrees and was publicly shamed as a fraudulent traitor.
"Oh shit, he's not showing us trying to ethnically cleanse the people who lived here to create our ethnostate in a good light! What a traitor and a fraud!"
I think with the original source being verified, that's good enough to check. Thanks for identifying it. Much appreciated.
Always happy to help
If you want to double check you can probably throw it through an AI transcriber.
can anybody who speaks Hebrew confirm the subtitles are accurate
I doubt you'll get an answer to this, unless they speak hebrew and are anti-zionist as well. Btw for those interested in digging deeper into these testimonies are in relation to the Tantura Massacre in 1948, as mentioned in this video.

Which is unthinkable, much like people speaking American English are necessarily fans of the military industrial complex.

It's not unthinkable. Many supporters of Jewish Voice for Peace are in this category, meaning they speak hebrew and are anti-zionist. Let's not forget that JVP is the largest jewish anti-zionist organization in the world.
In relation to your example though, there is no common ground between hebrew and american english because hebrew was the mother tongue of no one for almost 2000 years.
Pretty sure they were being sarcastic. There's obviously tons of anti-zionist Hebrew speakers.
I would say the MIC is far from a universal positive for Americans, even some far right idiots have horseshoed around to being opposed to it in the right contexts
From reading more about the documentary, it sounds like some veterans explicitly said a massacre didn't happen, but then again that's one of those things where even one unforced admission to something that damning is pretty sus in itself.
This was May 2023 and the usual controlling of narrative and cover given:
US skips UN Nakba event marking dispossession of Palestinians after Israeli campaign
(CNN) The United States and Western nations including the United Kingdom and Germany on Monday skipped an event at the United Nations marking the 75th anniversary of the dispossession of Palestinians after Israel called for a boycott.
The event, the first of its kind to be held by the UN, commemorated the Nakba or “catastrophe” – when roughly 700,000 Palestinians fled or were expelled from their homes in what is now Israel. The commemoration was boycotted by Israeli officials, who also urged diplomats of other nations not to participate.
On Sunday, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, sent a letter to other UN ambassadors “deeply urging” them not to take part in what he called a “shameful Nakba event,” according to a copy of the letter obtained by CNN. Erdan said “Such events only serve to demonize Israel and further push away any chance for reconciliation.”

I'm fluent in Hebrew. The translations are accurate. The only thing that stands out is he says the monster with the submachine gun "swapped/magazines", as is he emptied one and swapped to a new one. The laughing imo is coping/senility. I've known lots of old Israelis like this guy and lots are terribly racist, I do believe that the army is more organized than it was during Nakba. Whether that means they are better at hiding atrocities or preventing the...idk. Growing up in Israel we were told we had the most moral army in the world. They brainwash you in the IDF (like most militaries), with the goal of making the 18 year old draftees okay with their role in war. I am certain that in the coming decades there will be more of these tell all type videos from gen z Israelis coming to terms with their actions.
Yeah, the smiling seems more like desensitization. He doesn't seem to promote, excuse or justify the crimes. He knows they were horrific.
War is hell. None are moral. The difference is that some are completely unjustifiable (e.g. aggression or imperialism vs self-defence). Human rights abuses, rape, murdering civilians, torture, and psychopathy are present in every single warzone in history, and committed by both sides; though the volume of crimes can be extremely lopsided.
So where's our anti pedophile army?
