"so far i'm aware of hetalia axis powers, G.A.T.E (thus the jsdf fought there), graveyard of fireflies, barefoot gen, legend of galactic heroes, valkyeria chronicles and the gundam seed series"

guess what the title of the post was!

shoutout to @Thallo@hexbear.net who correctly guessed anime about article 9!

Anime that depict article 9.

I know little of anime or article 9, but I remember every hexbear post

yep! "Pro and Anti Article 9 Anime" to be specific, but you're completely correct

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 7 points 6 months ago

Cromalin was posting about article 9 a few weeks ago, so this is probably the answer lol

Sounds like something that this person will randomly remember and feel the embarrassment soak in like 10 years from now lol

I would add Saikano to the list. I have no clue whether it's pro or against art 9 though, since the JSDF is by all means a full-on military, and its whole thing is "war gets in the way of teenage love while allowing some really yikes relationships to happen"

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 8 points 6 months ago

Huh, what's the metaphor for Article 9 in LOTGH?

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 7 points 6 months ago

spoilerThe red-headed twink. It was the only thing holding Reinhard back

Which anime depicted a nuclear weapon usage?

[-] Cromalin@hexbear.net 5 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

nope, hint added to op

What is "recommend me some political animes"?

[-] Cromalin@hexbear.net 6 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Second guess: What is "what are other leftist animes"?

[-] Cromalin@hexbear.net 9 points 6 months ago

lmao no. the idea of anyone calling gate leftist is insane

[-] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 5 points 6 months ago

If the magacumbrains weren't already anti-anime, if almost expect them to say "gate is actually leftist, libs owned"

[-] Cromalin@hexbear.net 5 points 6 months ago

gate being leftist is genuinely not something i can imagine anyone thinking. it's one of the most openly fascist anime i've ever seen

[-] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 5 points 6 months ago

Let me summon some reactionary brainworms and see what they come up with.

Gate is actually leftist because a democratic nation is intervening to defend exploited workers and peasants from a feudalist monarchist empire in another world and is empowering them in our world by helping them gain legal recognition in the United Nations so as to prevent reactionary capitalist and imperialist powers such as Russia and America from invading and exploiting them for their resources and labour. With all that in mind we can see that while Gate has problematic issues in it, we can see that it is fundamentally a progressive anime even though some may want us to think otherwise. Therefore, we should support the abolishing of article 9 so the JSDF can be a more effective progressive force for good in the world.

I feel kinda gross after that.

[-] Cromalin@hexbear.net 4 points 6 months ago

thanks! i wanna puke

i'm watching gate right now and it's agonizing. unbelievably bad

[-] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 5 points 6 months ago

I watched it years back when it first came on when I had really bad war junkie brain and enjoyed it in the same manner of "what if we sent a modern infantry squad back in time and had them fight a Roman army"

Thankfully times faded my memory of it to the point that all I remember is watching a dragon get owned with RPGs and U.S spec ops getting owned by fantasy people

[-] huf@hexbear.net 3 points 6 months ago

yeah, but it's so bad that you just cant stop watching, right? i cant be the only one who watched it all the way through with a frozen grin...

[-] Cromalin@hexbear.net 2 points 6 months ago

no i could very easily stop watching if i hadn't made a pact

[-] huf@hexbear.net 2 points 6 months ago

not the best pact, as pacts go i think. probably will not feature in any top pacts lists :D

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 4 points 6 months ago

What are some anti-war anime?

[-] Cromalin@hexbear.net 5 points 6 months ago

no, but this is kinda close

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 4 points 6 months ago

I want to say WW2 themed anime, but your hint makes me think that's wrong

[-] Cromalin@hexbear.net 4 points 6 months ago

it's not unrelated to ww2 but it isn't ww2 specifically. i really think if more people knew what gate was about this would have been guessed much faster
