I'm confused at the republican position on Jews, either they are evil and control everything or we are not doing enough to help them...

It's almost as if they don't actually care about them and are just using them as a political pawn.

That and the evangelical wing needs needs all the infinity stones in Israel or something so Jesus can be rebooted and kick off Final Crisis.

Please snap those fuckers up.

[-] snugglesthefalse@sh.itjust.works 14 points 4 months ago

It would be ironic if Jesus did actually show up, turns around and is like "yeah no it's you guys who I'm deleting"

"Dr." Dobson, I don't feel so good.

[-] AlwaysNowNeverNotMe@kbin.social 3 points 4 months ago

They want the hard ending and don't give a shit about no side quests.

[-] Not_mikey@slrpnk.net 9 points 4 months ago

Zionism and white nationalist anti-Semitism go quite well together actually. Even Hitler thought Zionism was a good idea for a while, get all the Jews out of Europe and the u.s. and onto the one barren patch of land in the Middle East without any oil so they can fight with the brown people they also hate is a pretty good "solution to the Jewish question" if you buy into all of that shit.

"Jews bad, but militaristic Israel good."

[-] frezik@midwest.social 6 points 4 months ago

It makes "sense" viewed from a fundamentalist Christian perspective. They don't like Jews, but they also think the Jews reclaiming their homeland is a prerequisite to the rapture. There's also supposed to be a mass conversion of Jews to Christianity.

So if you accept all that, their behavior appears more consistent. If you accept all that, you might also be an idiot.

I mean, wasn’t the modern state of Israel invented at least in part so antisemites would have a place to deport them to after it became gauche to kill them?

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

Some of the nutjobs think their crazy eschatology requires Jews in Israel so that the character of Jesus can come back, condemn most of the Jews to hell and let the xtians watch all the unsaved, Jews included, suffer for all eternity.

I mean, it is so obviously the dream scenario for total psychopaths (what kind of damaged mind imagines watching others suffer agonizing torment for eternity as a reward?), but these people will simultaneously say it's all about LOVE, and about their superior "morality", mannnnn....

[-] Delusional@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

When was the last time they didn't try to use something/someone as a political pawn? They've not tried to pass anything that actually helps Americans.

[-] unreasonabro@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

why not both?

"You had very fine people on both sides" - Donald Trump, after neo-Nazis marched through the streets of Charlottesville shouting "Jews will not replace us" while one of their own ran over counter-protesters with his car in August of 2017. Full transcript via Politico

....I remember lots of gaslighting defenders of Ronald McDonald claiming he didn't really say that, it was DuhMeeediUH that took words out of context.

[-] magnetosphere@fedia.io 58 points 4 months ago

Anyone who takes Trump’s opinion into account regarding anything should be ashamed.

[-] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 21 points 4 months ago

Equating all Jews with the state of Israel and Zionism is racist.

[-] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 21 points 4 months ago

Imagine being shamed by a man who has no shame.

As he said this his phone sent a reminder to schedule lunch with Kanye and Nick Fuentes

I mean, I absolutely will be ashamed when I vote for Biden in November.

Ashamed that the best this supposed bastion of democracy could offer up for me to choose between are:

  • The oldest person ever in the running for the job who makes everyone hold their breath he doesn't do something addled each time he's in front of a podium.

  • A guy in several criminal cases at the same time who tried to overthrow the government and is simultaneously beloved by conservative Christians trying to ban books on sex while having had sex with a pornstar who he said reminded him of his daughter.

  • A guy denouncing modern science who admitted that he had a worm that ate part of his brain and died.

There's a lot to unpack there, and pretty much all of it makes me feel shame, irrespective of my ethnic background.

I'm Jewish and I ALSO think My People should vote for Republicans, the Party of Accepting and Courting Nazis!

[-] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

71% of Jews are Democrats

58% of Republicans support Israel

That’s all the information Trump needs before he starts ranting.

Very ignorant of Donald Trump here.

[-] whotookkarl@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

20+ hosts trying to connect to for JavaScript, no transcript or article just a video. But I find it unlikely many Jewish people are looking for voting advice anyway from a rapist, white supremacist, fascist piece of shit insurrectionist.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Yeah, they should totally vote for the party of white supremacists and literal Nazis.
