Everyone should post beans
And not poop for 3 days
You want beans? I'll give you all the beans you can handle...
Wait a minute...
Look, the rewards outweigh the risks so its work it.
How soon we forget Lemmy’s first big meme.
3 days, no poop.
Lemmings welcoming another Rexxitor, circa June 2023.
Toss a coin to your server. Oh community of plenty.
I was wondering that, actually. Many instances predate the Rexodus, but a lot of them sprung up around the same time as a result of that.
Trying to think of some way to celebrate on my instance. Maybe a birthday hat on my site icon for the day? lol
Replace the website with a picture of beans.
On second thought, don't do that
I've seen the reference a lot, but I don't understand it. At this point, I'm too afraid to ask. lol
Behold!
Oh, how about that? I say we get drunk. Day drink! Day drink and post stupidly!
I totally forgot Ming-Na Wen was in that.
I didn't even recognize her, but as soon as I heard her voice it was clear. :-)
Here is an alternative Piped link(s):
Piped is a privacy-respecting open-source alternative frontend to YouTube.
I'm open-source; check me out at GitHub.
Act natural. Got it.
Went to look and you're right, June 14, the exact day Boost for reddit stoped working. Now ai use boost for lemmy! :)
Shucks, I originally joined beehaw but they were blocking too many sites, and switched on September. Ruined my true cake day
That's okay, changing instances at least once is part of the experience
I assume I will forget to make myself a cakeday meme like I did every year I was on Reddit. Seems appropriate as a celebration.
Let's let Reddit Things die with Reddit.
Jehovah's Witness tier argument
Maybe it could be specific to each user?
Few ideas
-
a community for people to post in on their cake day, where they can comment on some aspect of their life that's improved in the last year / something they're grateful for
-
if you come across a cake day account, pop into their history and comment on something you find interesting
Note to self—don't make any comments on cake day
The latter sounds great!
How about nothing? The happy cake day comments were even more annoying than "this" comments
This.
Ah, complaining about the culture of the site was my favorite part of reddit culture
this place isn't what it used to be
This
How about denim day? Bean jean day? Thigh high day? Cake is a lie, let's celebrate real linux twinks.
looks at profile oh hello
Lemmy wish you a Happy Cakeday! May your post counts be high and your comments be gold.
Canvas event?
Mine's June 13th. One more month and I won't have posted anything on reddit for a full year.
Why is that a thing?
Same energy as a store giving me a birthday email.
You must be fun at parties.
Birthday parties to be precise.
Are these birthday parties where we sit around selling each other the latest MLM garbage
Wow it's almost been a year already?
It sure has. I knew it had been a while but didn't realize how close till we entered into May.
Showerthoughts
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted, clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts: 1
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- If you feel strongly that you want politics back, please volunteer as a mod.
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report the message goes away and you never worry about it.
