It doesn't mention the ethnicity of the victim but I'm sure the guy saw the group of teens and thought "It's my duty as a patriot to stop Radical Islamic Terrorists"

Man this could have been me as a teenager. Owned airsoft guns and used to play with friends in backyards and shit. Kind of a dangerous combo when you've got psyhcos with real guns just looking for an excuse to shoot someone and kids with toy guns that look real.
When I was a kid we had a lockdown because two men with camo and rifles were walking past the school. The police calmly approached them and questioned them, determined they were on their way to go hunting and let them go without incident. Needless to say, they were white.
