I can't be bothered to read the article. Is it because capitalism is funneling all the money into the hands of the ultra rich, making everyone else poorer, but the ultra rich own the media and government, so they fool people into thinking that it's the immigrants who are taking their money, thereby getting the two poorest groups fighting each other rather than joining together and attacking the people who actually have all their money and choose to enrich themselves to obscene lengths to the detrement of literally everyone else on the planet?
so they fool people into thinking that it's the immigrants who are taking their money,
And the poor. And the trans. And anyone who acknowledged issues experienced by minorities. And feminists (in some countries at least.)
Yes, this is why... But of course the article doesn't mention that... Which is shocking coming from a media conglomerate owned by a nepo rich white guy /s
I wish I could travel like, 200 years into the future in the hope that theres an oversimplified video going through all the stupid shit we're seeing.
"the Western World is like an recovering alcoholic who keeps replasing. Every few decades it decides that it has been pretty good and one little drink of fascism won't hurt it. Up next is Europa Ice sheet truckers. History channel, where history is made every day!"
because russia and the us are funding propaganda and disinformation to fuel it.
People want more defence spending and less immigration. But they don't see the left of centre looking to solve these issues. Not at all surprising really.
Turning against climate change is a little more surprising, but not unexpected with the protests and stuff.
In France only the right and far right advocates for more control and defense. Which country has a center left like that?
I think they meant that people do not see people left of the center looking to fix those issues, so it's not surprising that people vote for the right.
You’re right. I’m stupid.
It's not "lurching".
They haven't had their Brexit / Trump / anti establishment movement play through yet. That's it.
Well, because it is litterally impossible to find a house to live in. Buying is impossible for many young people, renting has a wait list of 12 years. And yes, right wing is not going to solve this, but they feel like voting for "the other assholes" is best. Also immigrants turning down the houses we let them live in, because they think its to small or don't like the neighbourhood. That boils the blood of people. So, immigrants, cost of living and no roof above your head. People in their thirties still live with mom and dad makes people very angry.
And instead of fighting the rich who are causing all of that, they're dumb and blame immigrants... Like they're told to... By the rich
Ahh a win for hate and bigotry!

Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.

If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
