To be honest, if Zelensky could find a way to convince the Ukrainian people to ally with Russia and China, I suspect they would find far more serious allies than what they have now.

He doesn't need to convince "the Ukrainian people": they don't have a say in their government or their participation in the war. He'd need to convince the Nazis running the military, and the imperial oligarchs who just bought up the country's assets. Both would sooner see him hanged in the street than allow peaceful coexistence.
