It's surprisingly good. I thought it would be more dead, but it actually makes for quite a nice replacement with plenty of content.

[-] AvoidMyRage@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago

I'm honest, I still don't get the universe concept. I am going on the site via feddit, which is the German version, I guess? If I want to see everything, I need to go to lemmy.world? If I get an app for it, what would it route me to?

It should be fine after a while if people stay here, but for now it's still in its infancy when it comes to user friendliness, I think.

Its better in a lot of ways and I have fully switched, didnt look back since.

[-] socsa@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

It would be nice to have a place to discuss world events without trolls brigading every thread.

[-] rustyriffs@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Lemmy is really good. It's not perfect, but obviously has great potential.

My only issue has been telling other people (in real life) about it, or convincing anyone to try it. The whole concept of the fediverse and related platfoms is too technical for the commoner to understand why it's so important in the first place.

[-] tehcpengsiudai@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Not gonna lie it was really confusing to begin with, even with a guide. Partially because I dropped by kbin first.

[-] AletheCrow@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Enjoying it so far. It is definitely taking some getting used to. Was testing Liftoff! And now on Memmy. Finding Memmy to be more enjoyable especially with being able to set dark for ease of visibility.

[-] AnAnxiousCorgi@lemmy.reddeth.com 2 points 2 years ago

Enjoying it a lot. Set up my own instance to try out, and exploring a lot of others. I enjoy the community a ton!

[-] Xylight@lemmy.xylight.dev 2 points 2 years ago

Quite well. It motivated me to build my own Lemmy client and it makes me enjoy Lemmy a lot more!

[-] ohlaph@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I'm interested in doing the same. Can you walk through what you did?

[-] TheGiantKorean@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

My biggest pain point right now is the bugs. I tried posting a rather long reply to something and got a "Beehaw is down for maintenance" message. I'm not sure if it was the instance or my app (Connect), but I ended up losing the post.

Having said that, I really am enjoying my time here. People seem nice and welcoming, and engagement is good. I'm looking forward to seeing how things progress.

Just fine. Spent last week editing all my comments with PDS. On Monday, I deleted my account and I'm only here so far.

Social media in general has been shit. Not that they ever were very good, but it seems to be worse.

High quality content makes my scrolling more enjoyable and less depressing.

BUT vastly smaller community means it's harder to get questions answered. Reddit was my goto for all kinds of things that I have now turned to ChatGPT for.

[-] ichbinjasokreativ@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

the site loads way faster for me than reddit ever did, to the point that I'm actually stoked about it

Things can only get better!

I am enjoying the experience I must admit and I can't wait to see how things pan out 6 months from now. I am certainly sticking with it for the long run. Wefwef.app is amazing to interact with.

[-] DeadWithMyFriends@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Been using Thunder through Test Floght and it’s been pretty nice. I’m sure with time it’ll get better and more populated but I don’t mind the calm right now.

[-] lunaticneko@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

I'm a cat and currently I'm loafing in a corner of the room on my own cushion.

Translation: I am enjoying the peaceful moment looking at people doing their things here.

[-] richyawyingtmv@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Pretty good actually, android app is neat.

It's good. You get accustomed to something, so there's still a little loss there, but this platform has a lot of promise and I appreciate all of you who make it what it is!

[-] OsakaWilson@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

It's good. It has the pre-Digg.com migration vibe that early Reddit had. Niche communities are hard to get started, but that's to be expected.

Lots of positivity.

[-] Sinker1345@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Is actually really nice, I like the separated servers. I can generally filter the amount of communities I see from just my interests, to my local server and then wider. One I found out I could search for and join communities I realized I could stay here

[-] Lord_Logjam@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I'm enjoying the discovery phase a lot more than I did with Mastodon, which I've largely abandoned now. It still has a way to go but it's fun seeing it grow.

[-] TenderfootGungi@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I am using one of the top iPhone apps, that is openly being feverishly upgraded, and wow do I still miss Apollo.

Lemmy is OK, just not a lot of niche subs yet. If there were more people active here it would be fine.

[-] FellowHuman@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

I realy like it, but I miss RIF. I use Jerboa now, but might switch an app. RIF was realy usefull for not looking at stuff (loading it) for seccond time. I saw purple link and just skipoed the post, without needing to open it or to load the image again.
