I'm honestly kinda conflicted on Rhys Darby now. He's hilarious in a lot of stuff, but has anyone seen his standup? Maybe it's got regional appeal, but felt super super bland. It made me look at some of his other stuff, I feel like he's got a few really good roles that he's really known for and a lot more stuff where he just kinda phones it in.

Sounds about right. Australians have a "macho" culture, meat heads aren't often intentionally funny.
A lot of my favorite YouTubers are from Australia and quite funny. They're always making explosives in their shed and bitching about their thesis being due!

I know an Australian who runs a YouTube channel called DankPods (you might've heard of it), and he's pretty damn funny.
