“If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism, they will abandon democracy.” - David Frum

We are here, folks. They are planning civil war if they don’t win an election already rigged in their favor.

[-] Ubermeisters@lemmy.zip 34 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

That's been clear for a while IMHO. They are just starting to say it louder for the benefit of the dumber counterparts among them (aka the greater majority of trumps non 1% base).

[-] morgan_423@lemmy.world 23 points 1 year ago

They can try. Were it to come to that, they are badly outgunned and outnumbered.

[-] ThirdWorldOrder@lemm.ee 30 points 1 year ago

They seem to think they’re the only ones with guns or are the only ones who know how to use them.

[-] agent_flounder@lemmy.one 13 points 1 year ago

The ones I know on the left that have em don't talk about them much (or act psycho or make it their identity or whatever else).

[-] Lord_McAlister@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Also they seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of how wars are fought and won. It almost never comes down to bullets. It comes down to communication, supply lines, tactics, and information. 1000 bullets aren't worth jack if you don't know where their artilary is being launched from.

[-] Roundcat@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

I believe them. I don't think anyone here shouting "bring it" is actually ready to fight a war.

[-] Soulg@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Probably not, but neither are the right either lol

[-] retrieval4558@mander.xyz 17 points 1 year ago

Only if the police and military don't side with them... and there is a rage against the machine song that comes to mind about that.

[-] Lord_McAlister@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

The police are bastards but the military will side with whatever side doesn't insight violence. That's not the Republicans.

[-] Roundcat@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago

There were definitely a lot of military people amongst the Jan 6 insurrection. Plus we have footage of law enforcement letting them in.

[-] nomecks@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Watching "Shiny Happy People" gave me an idea how frighteningly organized conservatives are. Not Trump and his lackeys, but the larger christian right.

[-] shadowSprite@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I feel like they are better prepared than we give them credit for. The true powers are happy to let the Ya'llqaida run their mouths and wander around in Walmart camo looking ridiculous, because it makes the rest of us discredit them. But the real threat is very strong, very powerful, and very hidden. I was raised conservative Christian. I was raised under a lot of the same beliefs as the fucking cult in Shiny Happy People. I went to camp at one of the universities that they are apparently organizing conservative youth to go into politics with the purpose of taking over. I didn't know about any of it, I'd never heard the name of that cult before or that any of it was happening, that's how well it is hidden. I think that they are so good at sliding under the surface that you can be so close to it and never know it's there meanwhile they are paying off people and getting policies made and controlling the world however they see fit. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

It will shock you when you learn how well funded many are too. People need to stop thinking of insurrectionists as hobbyist hillbillies with shotguns. A lot of them are full on paramilitary groups.

[-] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

We are here, folks. They are planning civil war if they don’t win an election already rigged in their favor.

Fuck 'em.

[-] Ikaros@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

You said it so well. No sarcasm

[-] reverendsteveii@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Civil war, smedley butler, we come here about every hundred years or so.

[-] Skoobie@lemmy.film 72 points 1 year ago

That's a coup. An election decided by bullets is a coup.

[-] dingus@lemmy.ml 54 points 1 year ago

When people tell you who they are, believe them the first time.

why does Mike want to be shot so badly?

[-] dingus@lemmy.ml 42 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It's always these old fucking pricks whose hands would be shaking because they're fucking ancient. He's fucking nearly 70. He really thinks he has the reaction times as a 70 year old to deal with a guerilla warfare situation? Or is he just hoping everyone else is gonna do the fighting for him?

Jesus Christ I'm in my 40's and I feel like a fucking shaky, woozy mess who could easily be taken down by someone half my age. It's stupid as living fuck.

[-] agent_flounder@lemmy.one 23 points 1 year ago

Rich people don't fight. Peons fight.

Huckabee is just doing your garden variety, stochastic terrorism aka inciting violence type of thing.

[-] mustardman@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Mussolini didn't even march on Rome. He was surprised that other people did and showed up later lmao.

[-] carl_dungeon@lemmy.world 28 points 1 year ago

Cool I’m looking forward to seeing more magtards getting 20+ years. I bet letting bullets fly will really get ya some quality time. Maybe it’ll finally get some poor people caught with a bag of weed out of prison and get the real criminals locked up. Drain those maga swamps!

[-] FartsWithAnAccent@lemmy.world 27 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Bitch please, Qultists would get fucking wrecked if a civil war popped off.

[-] ZC3rr0r@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 year ago

Undoubtedly. But they will stir a whole lot of shit while they're going down. If you think mass shooting are bad now, imagine if every single MAGAt becomes convinced they're going to be persecuted to "David Koresh"-levels and decides to kill a bunch of people on their way out.... I shudder to think the level of societal chaos this could cause.

[-] Serinus@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago

They don't have that much power. It takes a lot (and a lack of sanity) for someone to "kill a bunch of people on their way out".

The most they can do is something like Jan 6th with more competence. Something like that requires organization, and the FBI is pretty good at infiltrating organizations who are trying to grow enough to make a difference. January 6th wasn't stopped primarily because it was done by the President, and the office (for better or worse) gets more leeway with laws.

[-] agent_flounder@lemmy.one 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I doubt anything organized and large scale will ever happen. The thing to watch for is more isolated* terrorist acts against minority groups like we've seen over the last several years.

[-] FartsWithAnAccent@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Seems likely, their stupidity functions as a safety mechanism. It's just like why elaborate government conspiracies fail: People are eventually stupid and untrustworthy, the more people involved, the greater the likelihood somebody fucks up hard. When you take a group that's already very poorly educated and lacks critical thinking, they're probably not going to do too hot in any form of sustained warfare.

Doesn't help that they think people who aren't far right are unarmed soy boys: There are plenty of moderates and liberals who are armed and can fight just fine.

[-] evranch@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago

I'm a well armed Canadian leftist/labour unionist and people are always surprised by this combination (especially in Canada where non-conservative politicians are almost always gun grabbers). I always have to remind them two things:

  • left wing and "woke liberal" are two different things

  • when you get far enough to the left you find people aren't willing to give up their guns anymore

[-] fubo@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago

This just in: Mike Hucking Fuckabee goes fashy all over too.

[-] 3425asdfqwer4@kbin.social 16 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

We can only hope that they try. America needs to get rid of some of these animals to start functioning.

Rebuild the senate and stop basing the seats on random map lines. Make voting mandatory so there's no incentive to disenfranchise voters. Replace FPTP and stop letting corporations sponsor politicians.

[-] paddirn@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Given that their best shot at something like that was while Trump was still in office and had the full force of the Federal govt & the Military backing him up, I’d like to see them try. If they can’t manage a coup when they had a wannabe dictator running the show, they sure as shit couldn’t pull it off now.

[-] Glifted@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Get armed if you aren't already. You know they'll come after the "libs" in their community.

[-] reverendsteveii@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago

Do it or shut up you cowardly fucking blowhards. No one is afraid of you.

[-] Pistcow@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago

Wait, Boing Boing is still around?

Neat.

[-] dingus@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

It's a bit of a shell of what it once was, and I think Doctorow doesn't post there anymore. Don't know about anyone else from the original team. Sort of ad infested now. (Or at least that's what my adblockers tell me, and I see a lot of blank space.)

[-] Jaysyn@kbin.social 9 points 1 year ago

Fuck around & find out you #fascist piece of shit.

Didn't they say that just before the last election too?

Welp, is this not a clear sign to load up on guns?

[-] Daft_ish@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Huckabee quoting Malcom X? Damn, Mike. Good luck making a reddit account.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.one 2 points 1 year ago

Don't wish for it Mike, it won't turn out how you think it will turn out...
