I watched Sheldon sitting so proud in the White House when we gave Miriam the Presidential Medal of Freedom,” Trump said on Thursday evening. “That’s the highest award you can get as a civilian. It’s the equivalent of the Congressional Medal of Honor,” Trump added, referring to the highest military honor given for valor in combat.

But civilian version, it’s actually much better because everyone [who] gets the Congressional Medal of Honor, they’re soldiers. They’re either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets, or they’re dead,” Trump continued. “She gets it, and she’s a healthy, beautiful woman, and they’re rated equal, but she got the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and she got it for — and that’s through committees and everything else.

Huh, the quote with context is actually much worse than the headline. I'm impressed.

All the headlines I found were either understated or sensational. I thought understated would be better.

What a bunch of weird shit to say about veterans. He's like some weird cross between Dr. Evil, Jack Handy, and the Team America version of Matt Damon.

It's also super weird to fixate on the physical attractiveness of people who receive such awards

"I wish a robot would get elected President. That way, when he came to town, we could all take a shot at him and not feel too bad."

He thinks soldiers are stupid because he can’t conceptualize anything other than his wholly self serving lizard brain

Nice swipe at veterans there. Basically his new version of calling the dead soldiers suckers while visiting Arlington. And love the slight that it's better to have the medal with the word "President" in front of it instead of "Congressional", because it feeds his narcissism.

Of course. Every salesman has to praise his wares.

Biden received that same medal with distinction so I guess he’s even better then? Like extra better?

Winning hearts and minds. What a normal topic to discuss.

“She gets it, and she’s a healthy, beautiful woman, and they’re rated equal, but she got the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and she got it for — and that’s through committees and everything else.”

"She got it for..." And he cut himself off? She got it for what, Donnie? What did she do to deserve the highest civilian honor that you are too afraid to say out loud?

I know he’s just sucking up to her because he berated her recently, and it made the news. But really he’s just displaying how politicians usually feel about those who are in the military or are veterans, that warfighters are expendable tools. Look at how veterans are treated for getting benefits or disability.

IMO, Hawkish politicians in all countries should be mandated to have their own children serve in combat. You can’t call for conflict or sending out troops unless your own flesh and blood is on the line too. It’s too easy for politicians to become detached from reality and believe that they’re kings.
