Anon fought well. May need to rest a few hours from this social interaction, but will live to fight another day.
I would congratulate OOP for this. this is how it's done. in fact, it's refreshingly normal. they were probably alarmed that it wasn't innuendo or an attempt to hit on them. a lot of their hesitancy might have been their metaphorical "threat radar"s proverbially "overheating" as they strove to detect SOME sign of impropriety, and feeling even more alarmed when they couldn't. Which is why one of them reciprocated socially, to test the waters. Whether OOP knew it or not, he made a disarming impression, which is good. Stay good, OOP!
Also, MAN, having assignments that pre-date the very first day of class is annoying >_< i've had that at least twice in my years of being a student as well, but it's usually just a way for the professor/instructor to get an idea of what their student group's level of understanding is for the material so they have a better idea of how to hit the ground running after they go over the usual First Day Stuff.
And the first day is usually a waste, so it's good to give the students a sense of what the class will be like so they can change classes or whatever. IMO, having no homework the first week does the students a disservice.
This comment made me think for a minute. My thought process was one initially of, “he can’t be talking to OOP we are two websites removed”. But that is the beauty of it. Someone else who may need both the OOP story and your congratulatory comment to build constructive self awareness could be on this site and learn from it. All that to say, no matter how small you think the scope of people you are reaching is keep commenting and being constructive like @Draegur@lemm.ee
It is good for the world when we support people in realistic ways. Sometimes you have to gently tell someone they are wrong, sometimes a simple congratulations go a long way. But not saying something is always worse.
i learned from appreciating those rare and beautiful versions of "i don't know who hear to this but..." that are unironically wholesome and sincere. somebody someday might see something we wrote and feel better, be encouraged, or grow wiser. knowing how many neurodiverse people come through Lemmy and would click on that greentext because they identify with it... knowing they might explore the comments too? i want those future people to come away better than they were before they approached, even if only in a teeny tiny infinitesimal way!
That's good for someone that's neurotypical. It's outright excellent for someone that's divergent and inexperienced with the setting.
Moved to sweden a few months ago, its surprisingly hard to talk to girls in my class. Everyone is so closed for conversation when its the opposite gender even if im not hitting on them or anything, i just wanna talk. Where i lived previously(hungary) i could be friends with girls without it being strange. Maybe i just need more time here but still a bit of culture shock for me.
thats my experience with Scandinavian countries in general. Very preserved
Everything I hear about Scandinavia makes me like it more
Except for the language
Have some goddamn self respect. Hkfdafjord indeed.
The language??? Its so easy to learn compared to other languages. Norwegian and swedish are pretty good and icelandic is a lot stranger but youre gonna recognise a lot of stuff from old and middle english. Its kinda like shakespear but nordic. Then theres danish and finnish.... those are horrible. Danish is incredibly hard because of its fucked up phonetics(it literally has sounds no other known language has) and finnish has extremely hard grammar and the words are different. Im saying this as a native hungarian speaker(finnish and hungarian are related tho you cant understand one from another the ways in which the languages are hard are still somehow the same) dont learn finnish even tho its a bit easier than hungarian. But norwegian and swedish are pretty easy, can recommend.
Oh sweet
I wonder what color their new DSXL is, the one I got a few months back is maroon
Mine is blue, and I took a knife and cut out the rubber clit nub. If you do that, you can pop a PSP replacement joystick right on with zero effort, it just snaps right on! It works SO MUCH better than the rubber clit.
Also install CFW if you haven’t! I love my N3DSXL.
Interesting... I'd like to know more. Is there a good resource you'd recommend?
Oh absolutely!
I followed https://3ds.hacks.guide/ and it took me the better part of a day. Maybe six hours. The the WEEK AFTER I HACKED IT (this was maybe seven years ago?) they released a MUCH EASIER HACK. it took me under an hour to hack my partner’s 3DS.
I did my PSP joystick mod when Monster Hunter Generations came out. Oh god that was like eight years ago now… you can see it and find a video someone made recently here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/modding-new-3ds-xl-with-psp-1000-analog-stick-also-works-on-other-new-systems.606476/
I was scared to do it because what if it went badly? But nah, snipping out the clit nub was super easy and I had a spare PSP… the PSP joystick snapped RIGHT on and suddenly I had infinitely more control over my camera in games! I was sooooo happy.
Edit: I chose to use flush cutters to chop my C-stick out, I didn’t want to take my 3DS apart. I modded my PSP by taking it apart and hot gluing cut-out NES sleeve bits to the buttons for DJ Max Portable and didn’t want to go through all that again.
Sweet, thanks! I'll give it a shot this weekend! :D
Wonderful, good luck! It’s much easier and safer than it used to be. I just did it so I could back up my Monster Hunter saves, but now that the eShop is dead I’ll for sure pirate stuff if I play it more any time soon.
I also got an R4DS for regular DS games… it’s a cheap DS cart you can stick a microSD card in and load up DS roms! I think there’s a way to do it with just software on the N3DS as well, but I don’t remember. I had the R4DS from like 16 years ago (oh no I’m old) and I was happy it works on my N3DSXL as well! Lots of Osu! Tatakae! OUENDAAAAAAN! (Which I guess is a big thing with people now?!)
