2 of my favorite gifs from Biden is that and his looks of utter dismay at that orange turd from that same debate

Trump's handlers

I love how this makes him sound like the zoo animal he is

[-] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 61 points 3 weeks ago

Wow they're really going for it huh?

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 24 points 3 weeks ago

Or not. Depends on how Big Orange is feeling at any given moment.

I would much rather they have the mute button. Put them in soundproof booths so he can't talk over her when it's not his turn.

[-] kmirl@lemmy.world 40 points 3 weeks ago

I'm guessing the Harris campaign wants muted mikes as well and are manipulating the very stable genius into going along...

[-] makyo@lemmy.world 26 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah it's hard to say what they really want at the debate. What is clear is that they know just how to use these opportunities to get under his skin

[-] CountVon@sh.itjust.works 33 points 2 weeks ago

I don't they'd mind either outcome, I think they have a solid play they can run in either event:

  • Muted mics - "Trump's own team thinks he can't manage to act presidential for 90 minutes!"
  • Unmuted mics - "Look at all these clips of Trump not acting presidential during our debate!"

Yep! I have the feeling that they hired a few narcissism specialists to help play Trump. He keeps falling for their obvious traps.

[-] Lightor@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago

I don't know, he's spiraling hard. This might be them wanting to show America how he acts. He will no doubt say weird stuff and make a fool of himself. It also opens the door for Harris to interrupt him as well, which I don't see him handling well. I think this is a solid move honestly.

I would much rather him be thrown into a prison cell and his assets seized to pay back all the unpaid bills he has collected over the decades.

They're both put into soundproof booths, but make sure the orange turd's mic is always on so everyone knows exactly what he says...get incriminating

Shots fired! Trump the bullets in your court, your response?

[-] taladar@sh.itjust.works 56 points 3 weeks ago

Can you be a bit more specific? Trump has been in so many courts lately it is hard to keep track which one you mean.

Let the record show that I gave the 34th upvote to this comment…

In this case its a field for a ball game. Like tennis, or basketball.

[-] kambusha@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 weeks ago

The one where he courted Stormy?

[-] Saledovil@sh.itjust.works -1 points 2 weeks ago

I don't know.

[-] pastabatman@lemmy.world 35 points 2 weeks ago

I'm honestly surprised by this. They want him to self destruct on live television. If they make fun of him like they've been doing in every press release it will probably work.

This will require Harris to still command the room and come across as professional and presidential though, which might be harder than it sounds when Trump can tell as many outrageous lies as he wants. I think she can do it, but it's a risk.

[-] DogWater@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I think the play we are seeing is smart here. There is swelling momentum from center right Republicans urging their colleagues to distance themselves from trump and frankly an unprecedented amount of endorsements for Harris from the right side of the aisle.

This mentality of hot mics for the whole debate is trying to fan those flames within that movement.

This move in 2020 or 2016 would not be smart, but he's losing his chokehold as cult leader of the Republican party. It's still a risk in this race but I think much less so when they seem to be planning and preparing. This seems thought out to me.

I always thought it was so he didn't stalk her on stage and start screaming over her like the Clinton debates. No? I didn't know it was his staff that wanted to keep him tamped down.
