let's start by putting one inside every room of every one of Larry's houses

y'all see that all the workers at videogame publisher Annapurna Interactive quit? that's his daughter's company.

It's really our fault, for envisioning the torment nexus in the first place lathe-of-heaven

"..for poor people only", Ellison finishes. Let's put cameras on the bourgeois class and see what behaviour results.

"Every police officer is going to be supervised at all times, and if there's a problem, AI will report the problem and report it to the appropriate person."

"As the police chief for the city that these videos are sent to, I have reviewed the footage and determined the officers involved were framed using deep fake technology. The hackers responsible will soon be taken into custody."

Common household cleaners can be deadly if combined and should be kept away from the vents of billionaire's bunkers

ancaptain "This is NOTHING like 1984! This is being done by a corporation so everything is fine!"

to be fair, this is not the first time a guy named Ellison had a nightmarish prediction about what AI would do in the future

But people record themselves doing crimes on occasion?

The panopticon only works if there is a carrot as well as a stick. And it must be perceived as perfect.

He’s an idiot who is so detached from humanity, it’s a shock he’s still alive.

this is worse than the panopticon because there'd be a machine mind fixed on every cell instead of just the possiblity of being observed.

Are archive links broken for anyone else? Wondering if I somehow have an IP ban lol

[-] Gucci_Minh@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

Some antiviruses don't like the SSL cert they use, try a different domain like archive.is or see if anything is being intercepted by your antivirus (sometimes they have a functionality that inserts their own MITM certs that you can disable).

Fuck Larry Ellison

[-] tamagotchicowboy@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago

Nope, people will still do crime as mandated by conditions, delusions of glitchy AI god cops won't do shit.

[-] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

Alternative headline: Existential threat to all of humanity escalates threats against humanity, promises discipline and order within the torment nexus

[-] Hohsia@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

AI treat printers are going to be saved over actual humans in a climate crisis unless someone decides to do something very soon
