I mean, it does balance out .world sent-by-my-dad memes, otherwise this place would basically turn into reddit.

I have to agree lately tho I've seen a lot of very low-effort political/ideological memes. They should get better.

I think the election getting closer does this. Especially among American Communists who are going to be perpetually frustrated by the DNC and RNC media getting pumped at them.

I sympathize, but it is kind of annoying. Tho I think they see it as a form of agitprop to put politically minded "humor" (in quotes because it often isn't even funny, it's just pointing out the disconnect between messaging and action of the parties) in the eyes of a typically non-political audience.

Every time I see an ad from the Trump campaign accusing Harris of being based as hell I cry.

Ads are hell. Political ads are another level. I do my best to avoid em whenever possible. It just sucks to dwell on the state of politics in the US.

Exactly, that's the point. The ideological posts have become so much that they're not even memes nor are they funny anymore.

I mean, you're saying that from a Lemmy.world account, where it's far worse and entirely focused on US Electoralism right now.

[-] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I would say that's cherry picking, because posts about politics and other politically related stuff don't make it onto non-political communities. Besides, I'm willing to bet a lot of the "US Electoralism" is mostly coming from outsiders. Particularly those from ml, lemm.ee, etc.

It's the opposite, the majority of Trump v Kamala posts come from Lemmy.world users and communities, Commies tend to reject both.

Ok, you might be right, but that's besides the point. I'm saying a lot of the memes posted on this community aren't memes. They're just ideological circlejerk

What's the difference?

Actually the idea that memes should be 'good' is a dangerous lie perpeuated by the capitalist cishet white patriarchy. Memes are supposed to be brave and important.

The fact i had to decipher whether this was a joke or not speaks volumes about this community

Jokes aren't real, open your eyes sheeple!

You too, thanks.

Edit: pro tip, mute the nerd posting what you don't like. There are only a couple of dorks (like me) that generate the majority of shitposts.

TL;DR - mute me
