In German it's cutely named Siebenschläfer (seven sleeper). Cause it's hibernating for approx 7 months, or just a lot.

They can almost double their weight before hibernation. Of course something with that much fat is tasty haha
A delicacy in Ancient Rome! If you wanted to show off your wealth, you'd weigh the fattest dormouse you could get in front of your guests before serving it in a fancy dinner. The fatter, the more impressive!
I'd try a few, maybe I'm not getting enough dormice in my diet.
