Yeah this seems very little universally applicable and more or less only applicable to Aussies, so you can't blame them.
Works for the UK too — high street chemists have given way to supermarket pharmacy counters to some extent, and most supermarkets will have fuel and fast food nearby.
You have to learn a lot about US culture and infrastructure (inductively) to use English-language social media; I don't see why a meme that's centric to a different country should be an issue.
It's the reference to specific store names that (to me) seem very specific to Australia. McDonalds etc. are ubiquitous worldwide.

We get meds from a chemist in the US when your problem is really complex.
In aus thats where we get everything. Well except panadol and shit.
