American here. Can I come? Please? And stay?

[-] porous_grey_matter@lemmy.ml 15 points 1 week ago

The UK is not better than America haha, just outwardly a little more subtle

[-] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago

Are the cops less murder-y at least?

[-] DJDarren@thelemmy.club 11 points 1 week ago

Only because most of them aren’t allowed guns. A good number are still rapey and racist.

[-] Allonzee@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Way more tolerant of day drinking though, that's a plus.

[-] CptEnder@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Same tbh. I'd rather just watch Brighton be mid this season with some crisps than all this.

[-] d00phy@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Stayed at Amberley Castle a couple years ago. I could go back there and never leave.

[-] Nfamwap@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I dream of watching Wolves be mid.

Just don't forget to kill Philip first.

I would like to go there.

Or your 1st born child. They're not fussy.

Could be many in the UK. I had check it wasn't Smith's Tavern in Ashbourne.

[-] rtxn@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago

That place probably averages 28 stab wounds every night. A safe place, by American election day standards.

[-] TheDeepState@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Well, considering that we shoot people here. 28 stab wounds is child’s play.

[-] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago

US knife crime rate is also 50% higher. I’d just be going around in Kevlar if I lived there.

[-] dumbass@leminal.space 20 points 1 week ago

As an Aussie, I guess I gotta work the bar?

[-] d00phy@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Only if your name’s “Bruce.”

[-] Nfamwap@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

And you're an alright cunt.

[-] anaesidemus@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

bad news for us, the next election cycle starts immediately after this one, it will never stop sad-boi

[-] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 9 points 1 week ago

Seriously, it seems like their election campaigning goes on for years. I dunno how the yanks don't just get fed up with it.

[-] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

We do get fed up with it, but with the electoral college luckily only a small portion of us get hit with the worst of it.

Unluckily with the electoral college most of us get hit with the other worst of it AKA a Conservative candidate being competitive because the land gets to vote

[-] Blackmist@feddit.uk 2 points 1 week ago

I think they do which is how they've ended up with this.

I dunno, if Mr. Drumpf follows through on his promises, you'd need to stick half the government in the bin before another election even happened.

[-] DJDarren@thelemmy.club 6 points 1 week ago

That man has never followed through on a promise in his life.

[-] GreatAlbatross@feddit.uk 7 points 1 week ago

I would be willing to bet he has followed through on numerous occasions.
But not on promises.

Better get the pork scratchings in, this could be a late one.

[-] Zip2@feddit.uk 2 points 1 week ago

Surely we’re not that desperate yet are we? There’s still kebabs to go yet.

[-] Zier@fedia.io 12 points 1 week ago

Just a warning, it could be all week. Better tuck in.

[-] FuckyWucky@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

You all had your garb... rubbish vs rubbish moment already and rubbish won.

[-] r00ty@kbin.life 1 points 1 week ago

The US did in 2016 too. It's just for some reason, a lot of you want to do it all over again :P

[-] Blackmist@feddit.uk 8 points 1 week ago

Oh well. Look on the bright side, we won't have the US election cycle dominating our news again.

[-] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 week ago

What uh... what's going on over here?

[-] knatschus@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 1 week ago
[-] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago

Entirely possible. In low res it just looks a bit... naked

[-] TheVelvetGentleman@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

If you start seeing naked people in every blur of pixels, it's time to monk yourself. Get thee to a monastery.

[-] GreatAlbatross@feddit.uk 6 points 1 week ago

Someone has to brew the weißbier for the next generation!

Likely happens after every public school rugby match.

[-] frauddogg@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

Regardless of who wins, at least it's sure to be funny. I made my peace with the duopoly being identical plates of flyblown shit on expensive china months ago.
