Hey folks

I’ve been using Crunchyroll regularly for a couple of months with a paid membership, but I ran into some serious playback issues after a recent update. I reached out to their support, and they said a fix would be in the next update, but that didn’t help at all. After dealing with the problems for a while, I ended up canceling my membership since I couldn’t enjoy the service anymore.

I’m on a FairPhone 4 running Lineage OS 21, and while I don’t have other streaming apps to test, YouTube and NewPipe are working fine. I’ve tried other players like AniLab, but I’d rather pay for the content I love.

I also checked the LineageOS settings for anything related to DRM content, but I couldn’t find anything.

Has anyone else faced similar issues or found a workaround? I’d really appreciate any tips or advice! Thanks!

What kind of playback issue? And what's the version of Crunhyroll app? Have you tried clear data, to see if that fixes the issue? You can always get an older version from apkmirror to see if that fixes the issue. Until, its fixed on Playstore.

I stream daily on v3.69.1. Its been flawless so to speak.

I cleared the data and even reinstalled the app. I tried version 3.44.0 (which was the last one that worked), but I received a pop-up stating that I need to update Crunchyroll to use it. I'm getting the error code EXO-1004, which means that a connection could not be established. I've tried multiple solutions, including different VPN servers, various Wi-Fi networks (both public and private), and even mobile data, which came at an expense.

The latest version is 3.70.2. If even this fails. You would have to report this to crunchyroll. I'm guessing some compatibility issue with LineageOS and crunchy. Can you stream videos on other DRM protected apps. Try the ones which have a free trial or allow to cancel to test the theory.

Also, does it work on other smartphones in your home?
