Can someone just Elon already? Fuck's sake...

Anyway.... no seriously. Someone.

Ok, alright, so the lesson here will be "labour was too woke and antisemitic!!! We need Sir Nigel Thornberry to exit brexit... or brexit exit? Oh well, it doesn't matter, just get the further right than the Torys guys in there!"

Although he's being opportunistic here, Labour is actually being the one to call leftists "woke and antisemitic".

This petition comes after Labour backing down on even their most milquetoast promises and enacting the same austerity, transphobic and warmongering program of the Tories, but this time red.

Personally, I'd be happy to see them go as the current Blairite leadership is materially equivalent to the Conservative party for both the British and international working class. Possibly it'll be a chance for Corbyn's new pro-Palestine faction to make some gains.

While it would be nice to see Corbyn's new party make gains, I'd imagine it's infinitely more likely for it to just go back to the Tories. I love bourgeois democracy, where you can only choose between two flavors of fascism. Nice things (like being able to live) just aren't realistic.

In the last election, 2/3 of the votes Tories lost went to Reform UK, Farrage's fascist party, which gained twice as many new voters as Labour, Lib Dems, and Greens combined. Or to put it another way, Labour votes went up by 5%, Lib Dem by 6%, Green by 150%, and Reform by 615%:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2024/uk/results

While Reform only won 5 seats in the Parliament due to the "first by the post" system, it came third in terms of actual vote share, way above Lib Dems. If UK had proportional representation, Reform would now hold 93 out of 650 seats.

What I'm trying to say is, if there is another election, Labour will lose at least as much as Tories lost last time given their unprecendented drop in popularity (https://www.politico.eu/article/uk-keir-starmer-labour-suffers-historic-drop-in-approval-ratings/), but those votes won't go to Tories. Some might go to Greens but most will go to the fascists. And this time, they will have enough to be "first by the post".

I guess one can hope Corbyn manages to organise people like Melenchon did in France but honestly I don't see this happening in the UK cause the public is extremely docile and reactionary. Not that it did the Frenchies much good anyway, the anti-war coalition won and France just went to war with Russia: https://www.rt.com/news/608106-france-ukraine-permission-missiles/

Tories will probably win yeah, or there'll be a hung parliament and either party will have to negotiate with the LibDems. Maybe Labour will fracture and some Left Labour party will form similarly to Germany's BSW Bündnis. In the short term the UK is fucked.

But at the very least it's a great opportunity for Corbyn to show off his platform again, this time with the benefit of history having proven him right multiple times since 2019. That agitation might win a few concessions and demonstrate the disunity of NATO, which seems to be in serious crisis, creating the conditions for the end of this war.
