It's open to advertisers.

[-] HStone32@lemmy.world 83 points 1 year ago

I swear. If they start adding 'open' and 'free' to their buzzword salad...

[-] NounsAndWords@lemmy.world 53 points 1 year ago

You mean the guys who already own like 49% of "Open"AI?

[-] HStone32@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago

""""" open"""""ai

The next head of state for the USA famously is allergic to the truth, why would we hold American companies to a higher standard?

[-] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 22 points 1 year ago

We’re living in bizarro world. Anything’s possible.

Open to whom??

You to my data? Get lost.

[-] lemmyng@lemmy.ca 20 points 1 year ago

Open to criminals, of course.

Just look at all the operating it does

[-] UraniumBlazer@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

[-] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 30 points 1 year ago
[-] dinckelman@lemmy.world 29 points 1 year ago

I truly just don’t understand this timeline anymore

[-] Tyfud@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago
[-] jmiller@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago

Harambe was just the first casualty. The root cause was the weasel in the Large Hadron Collider shortly before that event, which shifted us into the bad timeline.

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

No, we lost Bowie and Prince.

[-] Petter1@lemm.ee 22 points 1 year ago

Maybe most open for bad actors trying to exploit their customers 🤭or most open to governments

[-] lychee@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 1 year ago

I wanna hear the bullshit that definitely came out of that guys mouth

[-] ccdfa@lemm.ee 16 points 1 year ago

Where is this from? I'd be interested in hearing what they're saying here.

[-] Anafabula@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 1 year ago
[-] joshcodes@programming.dev 3 points 1 year ago

Thank you for sharing that, could not find a link back to it. On an unrelated note I have a stitch

[-] AVincentInSpace@pawb.social 15 points 1 year ago

Tell me they didn't. Tell me this isn't an actual slide. This is just too funny.

[-] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 year ago

Of course, they make your personal information completely open to hackers and advertisers. They also make you open your wallet to buy a Windows 11 compatible computer.

[-] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

It’s an analogy ok, We mean Open like a festering wound or open like yo mama with your data.

[-] 01189998819991197253@infosec.pub 13 points 1 year ago

That is a better oxymoron than Microsoft Works lol

[-] _____@lemm.ee 10 points 1 year ago

open washing is real

[-] 299792458ms@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 year ago

The same system were to bypass the forced account sign-in during installation process one has to trigger a hidden prompt/terminal? Or the one that wants your desktop files to be hosted on OneDrive?

[-] Cris16228@lemmy.today 6 points 1 year ago

On windows 10 I think you could also bypass it with no internet + fake logins till is said to skip. Nothing like a "skip" button yeah but fuck Micro$oft

[-] rkk@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

imagine that you work for them and maybe sitting in the first row. who dares to laugh at the face of the ceo? must be an uplifting moment.

[-] absGeekNZ@lemmy.nz 5 points 1 year ago

Where is the meme where this is on top, and there is an image of tux with "The most secure operating system"

[-] ghurab@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

there is no way this is not an attempt at subverting the term

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

maybe they mean open to copilot/recall

[-] ajcolson@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

This is one hell of a good April Fool's joke.

[-] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It’s nice for all the windows users who can now copy, crack and redistribute any part of windows legally.

Of course they would challenge it but words can be binding and there is room in law for interpretations. Piracy is also already winning the war on sharing.

[-] Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 year ago

Just as open as "Open"AI

[-] SitD@lemy.lol 1 points 1 year ago

i first read "the most operating system" and thought ok that's true 😂 not sure where to but they operate

[-] moseschrute@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

The most open operating system

…to being bricked by kernel level security software and video game anti cheats

[-] werefreeatlast@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Open as in not secure. Let me use this word in a more familiar context.....Oh shit! We need to go back to the house! I left the door "open"!

[-] paraphrand@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

No no, Android is the open one!

[-] jonjuan@programming.dev 1 points 1 year ago

The most open to viruses and malware

[-] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 year ago

Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
  • Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn, no politics, no trolling or ragebaiting.
  • Don't come looking for advice, this is not the right community.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

  • Comments written in other languages are allowed.
  • The substance of a post should be comprehensible for people who only speak English.
  • Titles and post bodies written in other languages will be allowed, but only as long as the above rule is observed.
  • 6. (NEW!) Regarding public figuresWe all have our opinions, and certain public figures can be divisive. Keep in mind that this is a community for memes and light-hearted fun, not for airing grievances or leveling accusations.
  • Keep discussions polite and free of disparagement.
  • We are never in possession of all of the facts. Defamatory comments will not be tolerated.
  • Discussions that get too heated will be locked and offending comments removed.

Please report posts and comments that break these rules!

Important: never execute code or follow advice that you don't understand or can't verify, especially here. The word of the day is credibility. This is a meme community -- even the most helpful comments might just be shitposts that can damage your system. Be aware, be smart, don't remove France.
