The article seems to say that "passionate" is code for "toxic".

Yeah it means things got pretty heated

At this point, if BG&E2 ever comes out, it's gonna be like a repeat of Duke Nukem Forever.

Does that mean that sometime 11 years later, an earlier prototype will leak in a mostly complete state and the community will finish it up?

Because Duke Nukem Forever 2001 is better than ever.

There reaches a point with vaporware projects where it's like, actually release something or I don't care anymore, it doesn't deserve to keep getting press

Managerial bloat seems to be an issue at a lot of large companies. Only so many people are actually needed to do the thing.

Conversely, lack of proper management is also an issue on a lot of videogames projects. Probably has never happened at Ubisoft but I've seen it firsthand in small studios

Clear and strict management would get this game out the door. Instead, it was Michel's pet project and the company protected him from their and his worst impulses, AND sexual harassment claims.

Beyond Good and Evil was a masterpiece, and a sequel will never be.

Is that the one where you're a god and you have a giant monkey pet and you can teach it to take care of villagers and slap the monkey if it gets out of line

You're thinking of Black and White.
