3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

I have some soaps that I love that qualify for today's theme, and I love the theme idea, but I just wasn't feeling it.

I decided to go for a full luxury shave today. Three passes, totally BBS result. No nicks or irritation. Cherie Tobacco is like a very sweet pipe tobacco scent. Very well blended. I think it is a must-have.

Thursday, December 26, 2024: Boxing Day

  • Brush: Zenith/Stirling - 510SE-XL 31mm boar brush
  • Razor: Chiseled Face - Titanium Legacy Razor
  • Blade: Personna - Lab Blue (2)
  • Lather: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber
  • Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Master Recovery Splash
  • Post Shave: Ginger's Garden - Unscented Aftershave balm (+ menthol)
  • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Lavender, Interrupted EdT

On theme with GTB, this is easily my lowest soap, though I probably still have 20+ shaves left. It's the only soap where I can see the bottom of the tub, though.

I'm lying low today and recovering from the festivities. I'm very glad I won't have to be back at work until the new year.

Have a great day y'all.

Dec 26, 2024 - Serious Moonlight

  • Brush: Chisel & Hound Foundry 26mm Declaration Grooming B16 Badger Knot
  • Razor: Blackland Razors Blackbird Ti
  • Blade: Gillette Platinum [14]
  • Lather: Oaken Lab - Serious Moonlight - Soap
  • Post Shave: Oaken Lab - Serious Moonlight - Splash

Oaken Lab's Serious Moonlight is a truly unique and unforgettable fragrance.

The scent opens with a burst of citrus and black tea, which is followed by the dominant heart of the fragrance, night jasmine and wood. It creates an almost sensual atmosphere. The base notes of Indonesian oud, vanilla, leather, and asphalt add to the complexity and intrigue.

The pillowy B16 knot created a luxurious lather from the Oaken Lab base, and the Blackbird Ti provided a phenomenally close shave with zero irritation.

Oh this does sound really good. I might have to pick this one up.

Edit: if it ever pops up on shave_bazaar or m&m I guess. Looks to be sold out everywhere that Iโ€™ve looked.

Sorry, couldn't find anyone selling it either. I guess it was a limited release. If you do see it on the 'zara, I highly recommend

26.12.2024 - Boxing Day & F-400

  • Brush: RazoRock F-400 34 mm
  • Razor: RazoRock Cyber Medium
  • Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux
  • Lather: Noble Otter - Lonestar
  • Post-Shave: OAM sensitive skin toner; Alterra men natural ASB

-> 2 pass dome shave with the new monster brush. A very close one, looking quite shiny up top atm.

So today was finally a good opportunity for my new brush giant: it had a bit of starting issues, but I blame this fully on myself. I actually like to load directly from the tub and with a rather dry brush, but here I have to consider the overall large amount of extra fibers that need to get in contact with soap & water. After a short intervention in the form of more water on the brush + loading more soap I actually got a pretty nice result. It feels soft, splays nicely, very comfortable. Of course the NO lather was really solid too.

So, Lonestar was very fitting for me for a few different reasons: first off, the otter wears a big bushy moustache and today while trimming I actually went back to a Doc Holliday (beard)stache. It's actually the style that allows me the most flexibility in terms of shaving my face or not, trimming it nicely and caring for it the easiest. I also like how it gives me a gunslinger look with the short stubble around it. So, Doc Holliday and gunslingers - very fitting with the Western theme of the soap. Lastly, while it's mostly prairie grass and leather, Lonestar also faintly reminds me of high quality marzipan, a staple ingredient in german Christmas sweets. All in all a solid choice and a great way to end this year's Xmas season.

Today was a chilled day off, visited my parents in the afternoon and we had a great meal together in the evening. Now I'll need to go to bed after a final vape of the day, so I will be ready for my early shift tomorrow. Final shift of 2024 and I am so ready for some rest, folks. Hope all of you & your families had a nice Xmas!

I've been considering Lonestar as my first NO soap, the notes sound right up my alley.

I'm hoping to find a deal on a used set at some point.

[-] walden@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 2 weeks ago

Lonestar is great. I had a solid cologne sample of it once and the soap has been on my list ever since.

[-] DaveWave94@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 2 weeks ago

I actually got lucky and won it together with two other barely used soaps in a PIF, back when I was still a member of Reddit. Nowadays NO soaps are thankfully easily available in the EU ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I personally think Lonestar is interesting - a few months ago, it was genuinely just marzipan to me with a faint touch of grass and leather, but yesterday that shifted around 180ยฐ and now the leather and grass are most prominent. Could also be my nose becoming more sophisticated, but I highly doubt that ๐Ÿ˜‚
