The bill makes it extremely difficult to release any detained undocumented person back into America if they have been arrested under suspicion of theft.

Below is a detailed—but old—discussion from April 2024. I'm still looking for a more recent breakdown. Let me know if you find one, I'll update this when I wake up

We need them for "key votes" death-to-the-poor

[-] RedWizard@hexbear.net 24 points 4 months ago

Roll-call votes should not be a thing, the fact that I can't look up who voted Yea for this drives me up a wall.

"under suspicion", in other words, without proof. so some racist barely human pig can just see a brown person on the street, say "you fit a description" and then they're in american prison for the rest of their life performing labor for private corporations. and the worst part is, those corporations will turn around, slap a "made in america" sticker on their shit then sell it to you at a massive premium like it wasn't made by a slave.

death to amerikkka and death to all pigs but especially immigration enforcement piggies. what a bunch of worthless sacks of shit. not fighting any crime, just going to places of business and arresting vulnerable people, and of course, the capitalist pig who took advantage of the undocumented person faces no consequences.

Under a provision of the bill that has gotten little attention, federal courts in places like Texas and Louisiana could hear lawsuits seeking to impose sweeping bans on all visas from countries such as India and China.

Another year, another mile deeper into the cool zone

Oh look, they're going after other minorities when the getting rid of the first group of scapegoats didn't actually solve the problems of capitalism.

So let me get this straight. In March, this bill failed to pass with 37 democrats voting Yea. Now, post election, we have 11 new freshmen democrats who joined the House this cycle, voting Yea alongside the existing 37. So, of the incoming democrats, at least 11 of them are more fascist than the rest?

Like, what I'm trying to articulate here is, this feels like a pretty clear indication that the democrats turn to the right wasn't just rhetoric but real, and that at least some of these new democrats really buy into this narrative surrounding immigrants.

This is what bipartisanship gets you, indefinite detention of DACA recipients, supported by almost 50 democrats, which is more than 20% of democrats in the house right now!

indefinite detention

So this is for rounding up slave labor, right?
