PC Leader Doug Ford was captured on video after a news conference Monday saying he was happy that President Donald Trump had won the most recent U.S. election — that is until Trump responded with tariff threats that could cause massive harm to Ontario's economy.

"Election day, was I happy this guy won? One hundred per cent I was," Ford said. "But then the guy pulled out the knife and f--king yanked it into us."

When asked about the comments Monday, a PC Party spokesperson referred to a statement Ford had made moments before at the same news conference, where he said he is "absolutely not" a Trump supporter any longer.

"It's just so disappointing. I'm sure there's millions of Canadians that thought 'OK, this might be a good change down in the U.S.' — [but] it's been a disaster," Ford said. "I'd never support that guy in my entire life.

Gosh if only we had known Trump was self-interested and unstable before all of this... If only.

To be fair, there was no possible way to know this. You can't expect people to do the impossible and observe a man before he runs for president!

And certainly not when he's running for a second term, let's be fuckin reasonable here eh?

Drug Fraud showing everyone how "solid" he really is ... flipping and flopping like a fish out of water.

I hope Ontario voters are paying attention.

They're not. They never are.

Cool.

Promises of purging trans and LGTBQ people, firing minorities and women, reducing women's rights, and mass roundups of minorities, "dictator on day 1"... 100% happy.

Costing companies money, no that's wrong.

I'm also against the tariffs, but I have trans friends who I'm not turning my back on ever. You can't look past the shit they promised on the campaign trail.

Doug Ford's instinct to support Trump is the same as Ontario voters' instinct to support Ford. I don't know why kakistocracy has so much appeal, but many people seem to be into it.

On one hand it's pathetic that it took him this long to realize (or he's lying to everyone), but it's still better than my premier (Danielle Smith) who is still licking Trump's boots despite the existential threat to Canada and especially Alberta. It would be a massive upgrade to see her admitting something like this :/

I didn't realize Canada even had a "People with Delicious Faces" party, let alone that he was a member.
