Seriously, is Traoré trying to become the reincarnation of Thomas Sankara? Cause damn that's some based shit.

I mean...Sankara was murdered in '87...Traoré was born in '88...just saying...the timeline fits.

No but all jokes aside, he's been awesome so far.

I hope that the AES can be a bastion of anti-imperialism and prosperity on the African continent, and that it eventually grows into a United African Federation.

Sankara was extremely accomplished for the relatively short time he had in power, his biggest mistake was underestimating the imperialists, which it seems Traoré has learned from.

I personally believe that the Sahel states will become a much larger player within the anti-imperialist movement then anyone expects. Within a decade I believe people in the west will be blindsided by their rise, similar to China the last two decades.

They need to get a defence alliance with China or something ASAP cuz if they arent careful the US will just invade with the way things are going.

The US is already funding terrorism against them

[-] Xiisadaddy@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 3 months ago

Is there a region of the world where America isnt funding terrorism?

[-] GrainEater@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 3 months ago

I was going to say the US itself but the cops probably count

This is so fucking based. I have been hearing cool stuff about the Sahel states and especially Burkina Faso in the past few months. I really hope things go well for them and that a strong anti-imperialist and united socialist front of countries are formed there.

This is the sort of news that genuinely uplifts me. Taking concrete steps towards self-determination like this is what earns my highest degree of respect.

I can envision an independent, united, socialist Sahel in my lifetime and that makes me ecstatic. Solidarity to these brave people

You did an amazing job with that, thank you for sharing! :)

Thank you, and you're welcome.

If you ever come across this problem again, this is how you can attempt to resolve it:

Open the image in GIMP > Click "Colors" tab > Click "Color to Alpha" > Choose the color you need to get rid of (in this case, black) > Manipulate the "Opacity threshold" slider until you get the desired effect > Post your newly edited image :)
