Off the top, excellent poster choice. I think if you're trying to self-improve you can't have hate in your heart. Not hate for yourself, nor hate for yourself. I dig it.

This has been a good week. Good workouts, good readings, good programming. I also opened up my sketch book and drew a stick figure and landscape to plot out how I want to "dream game" to look. It looks bad and terrible but it looks better than nothing. Something is always better than nothing.

I also did a volunteer session at local church doing a meals for the community. Just helped setup tables, and stuff. I talked to people, good souls the bunch of them.

I'm happy with how last week went and I hope to roll that into next week.

Been staying consistent and crushing my goals. Attended a little hand balancing workshop at a yoga studio, which checked boxes for both fitness and socializing more, the latter being way more challenging for me. I'm sticking to my plant based diet very easily, it is a natural fit for me and I've been enjoying it immensely and seeing benefits. Also crow pose is dope.

I went to the gym today since like a month and an half. I was feeling sick towards the end, but overall happy that I did it. Just need to get the routine on again and get it in sync with SO.

Target :

I'll throw that boule into the sea.

Back on the self improvement wagon after 2 chaotic weeks

  • partner likely having surgery soon so that’s prop 1, the one goal that supersedes all goals is honor her needs right now: outcome: she comes first
  • corporate job got me access to high quality training videos. One certification per month. outcome: one CNCF certification
  • corporate job suddenly became extremely demanding after already being very demanding. I’m going to let the product manager absorb this hit (I like the guy but this is more his problem than mine and I’m already carry 5x my load): outcome: (per week 30 work hours, 10 training hours, 10 personal project hours && 1 certification
  • project get jacked while you still can outcome: 100 pushups tomorrow

So far my February is going better than January. I'm trying to be consistent with meditation. I went to the cinema to touch some grass, watched the Dylan biopic, I liked it.

Got my blood work back from doctor, cholesterol a bit high but I don't have diabetes so that's nice. Also in the two week since I managed to lose 3 pounds so cool too, still one thing I got to look out for is my vitamin D levels are low. Need to get some sunlight when I can so prob gonna go on some jogs in the morning if I can help it.

Ngl been pretty depressed but at least a bit of effort is paying off for my health kitty-birthday-sad

Self Improvement

333 readers
4 users here now

A community which focusses on improving yourself. This can be in many different ways - from improving physical health or appearance, to improving mental health, creating better habits, overcoming addictions, etc.

While material circumstances beyond our control do govern much of our daily lives, people do have agency and choices to make, whether that is as "simple" as disciplining yourself to not doomscroll, to as complex as recreating yourself to have many different hobbies and habits.

This is not a place where all we do is talk about improving "productivity" (in a workplace context) and similar terms and harmful lifestyles like "grindset". Self-improvement here is intended to make you a generally better and happier person, as well as a better communist, and any other roles you may have in your life.

Rules and guidelines:

  1. Posts should be about self-improvement. This is obviously a wide category, and can range from advice, to finding resources, to self-posts about needing to improve in a certain area, or how you have improved, and many other things.

  1. Use content warnings when discussing difficult subjects.

  1. Do not make medical decisions solely because of a discussion you have had with any person here (e.g. whether to take or not take medications; diagnoses; etc.) as we do not vet people. All medical problems should be discussed with a real-life medical professional.

  1. Do not post harmful advice here. If this is seen, then please report it and we shall remove it. If you are unsure about whether it's precisely harmful advice or not but feel uneasy about it, please report it anyway.

  1. Do not insult other users and their lifestyles or their habits (unless they ask, I suppose). This is a place for self-improvement. Critique and discussion about a course of action is encouraged over shit-flinging. Don't talk down to people.
