I don’t think the guardian is a good source for this topic as they’re situated in the UK and have been found numerous times to be transphobic.
The article definitely reads like it's trying to hide how transphobic it is.

Even if they are adopting a cheek swab, I don't trust this reporting on it for a second.
The source document wasn't written by the guardian and I would consider it somewhat objective in its analysis. I haven't gone through any of their sources yet mainly due to the sheer number of them though.
