A quick comparison of graphics presets in Avowed, the new fantasy RPG from Obsidian. All footage is with DLSS quality at 4K resolution.

DLSS definitely affects the quality, so I'd love to see what this looks like with that turned off. But with DLSS, I got to be honest, I don't see much of a difference. I see some slight differences in terms of shadows, reflections, and number of objects rendered on screen. But overall, no -- nothing that would change the experience when I'm in the midst of gameplay.

Low doesn't look half bad! :) I'm not sure how I'll get on as I've not bought a new game in a while, so that's nice to see as a worst case! :)

How is Avowed? It looks great and I'm excited to get it when money allows :)

I've played the first two hours now, and so far it's good but not exceptional IMO. Graphics look beautiful and it runs very well, even on my somewhat aging GPU. The setting and plot are interesting so far. The combat is fluid and fun. However, for an RPG, it's very streamlined and light on actual Roleplaying elements as well as immersion. It's the kind of game that reminds you that it's just a video game all the time. Both when it comes to the design of the areas you travel through as well as audiovisual elements, like lootable objects playing a sparkle sound-effect etc.

Thank you for the rundown! :) It's utter voodoo that it runs looking the way it does! :)

For an obsidian game, light on roleplay isn't my first thought usually, but neither's combat especially - it'll be fun to try it out! :) They haven't put a foot wrong, so hopefully I'll be aboard for this too.

thank you again! :)
