Fuck reddit. Multiple accounts banned for talking shit on nazis. If they want to ban me for that, then they have become nazis. I'll never go back. Fuck'em
Here's my two cents for what it's worth - Just embrace the opportunity to leave, have your conversations here and just search Reddit when you need to. That's what I did, it's much less toxic here.
I can certainly see that, my only gripe is the lack of content tbh :/.
It's odd because I've been on reddit for 10 years and so now I'm chronically bored lol and dunno what to do, it's definitely a sign of change obviously.
You need a hobby. I was addicted to Reddit all the way up until Spez fucked us all with the API thing. Then I migrated to Lemmy and followed my favorite apps that changed into Lemmy apps.
Never looked back, and I started to be less addicted to my phone. Watch more TV shows that I liked and wanted to catch up on. Do some hobby coding. I picked up speed cubing as yet another hobby, but one that I actually practice a lot.
Just get off of Reddit (and Lemmy, tbh) and create your own life content, friend. I use Lemmy when I have no other choice. Like when I'm taking a shit. Sick in bed. Waiting for my tea. Short moments. Much better for the mind.
Best of luck!
wish i knew about API, so i could avoided all those bans lol, i heard it pretty much hides your "online identity a bit?", could be one reason they wanted APIs gone,b eside the financial reasons.
I suppose it could be that the official Reddit app does a whole lot more tracking than the third party apps did, indeed. Seems very plausible to me.
yea the reddit app also has an extra anti-vpn system that the browser doesnt, additionally they apparently can check your device components(signatures"?) so its easier to identify you. from what ive heard the API before its downfall were able to allow you to evade bans somehow, since reddit cant get accurate info on your actual identity of your browser, or fingerprinting,,,etc. from another forum, its getting harder and hard to evade reddits ban-happy system, since they are using so much methods to catch and autoban everyone.
captcha V3, which google also uses, silently records your activity in the background.
