Summary

Elon Musk accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of “feeding off the dead bodies of soldiers” and falsely claimed he is “despised” by Ukrainians, echoing Donald Trump’s rhetoric.

Musk also threatened changes to X’s Community Notes after fact-checkers refuted his claims. Trump and Musk’s remarks align with Russian propaganda, prompting European leaders to reaffirm support for Ukraine.

Observers rejected claims that Ukraine is a dictatorship, emphasizing that its wartime election suspension is both legal and justified, similar to the UK's approach during World War II.

Critics argue Musk’s stance undermines free speech and factual discourse while aiding Kremlin narratives against Ukraine.

totally, but this is a broken clock moment

[-] Carmakazi@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Man I just love that our dumb fuck leaders are regurgitating Kremlin lies for our dumb fuck citizens to lap up like dogs.

[-] Aurenkin@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

I heard his approval rating is insanely low for a president this early in their term. Unfortunately it doesn't mean so much now but at least there are folks in the USA not lapping it up, no idea where they were on election day though.

It doesn't matter how low it is, he has that 30% locked in.

It will literally take him destroying their lives for any of them to change, and a bulk of them will still never change, much like the COVID deniers who denied it's existence up to their last breath when COVID killed them.

One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.

I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time -- when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness...

The dumbing down of American is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance.

Yeah Sagan did that kind of a lot.

This is such a fantastic and prescient book.

It also doesn't matter 'cause they got elected, so they don't care anymore. They'll spend the next two years transferring as much power to the Whitehouse as possible, so that it doesn't even matter in the midterms. The very clearly will try to get a third term movement going. It's straight out of the Hungarian and Belarussian playbook - it's not fantasy.

If by now you’re still on X, you’re actively part of the problem. No more excuses.

I will delete my account as soon as I get the chance. I mean I don't use it at all, but I think it's important now to actively remove it.

Have you found an alternative where I can follow most public personalities that I currently follow on X?

Edit 4 days later: I came across https://openportability.org/ and used it to gather my following list on X and follow them on Bluesky and Mastodon. 3 people found on Bluesky and 0 on Mastodon...

I don't want to call for anything illegal here but Elon Musk has to go somehow or some way. He's a danger to the western world. He is compromisable and a facist.

I am currently rooting for ketamine to win this battle in the war on drugs

[-] Ceruleum@lemmy.wtf 1 points 2 weeks ago

Can you overdose on ketamine?

[-] Regrettable_incident@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I've injected a fair bit (accidentally) on one occasion. Took me a while to work out who I was and what had happened, but I was fine after a bit. But TBF you can overdose on pretty much anything if you take enough.

[-] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 2 weeks ago

even water. There's such a thing as water toxicity. It dilutes your electrolytes so much that you can die. But tbh, I think if you drank that much water, electrolytes are the least of your worries.

Musk is a grifter that has never created anything in his life m. He has leeched off other’s creations thanks to the emerald spoon he was born with

[-] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 weeks ago

he's often touted as a founder of Tesla, but he wasn't a founder. He bought it. Much like all the other projects he's got. He hasn't created anything in his life. He was born rich, and inherited many many millions of dollars. He's nazi scum.

[-] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Luck plays a part, but Musk does seem to be skilled in choosing the right people to give money to.

Holy shit Zelenskyy appears to have seriously triggered them.

I wonder if he said something to the effect of “no i will not participate in your stupid fake peace process, if you want to stop supporting us, say it with your full chest to your own country where I have a higher approval rating than you.”

[-] teamevil@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

An an American I agree, I think a exponentially more of Zelenakyy than fuck wit trump and Nazi musk

[-] vga@sopuli.xyz 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I starting to genuinely wonder if we'll see Musk getting executed in my lifetime. Either by lynching/angry mob Mussolini style or an actual judicial process leading to death penalty.

We don't need to ask Luigi.

He already showed us what to do. We can be even more effective than Luigi by just having more people rising up Caesar-style.
